Are you kidding me? That is without a doubt probably the most thrilling thing that has happened during his entire job there. I'd be dragging that shit-show out for as long as humanly possible.
Seriously, tickles my insides when a customer loses their shit like this. There are so many ways to antagonize them that won't get you in trouble. I hate my job.
My old boss was so focused on sales that there was absolutely no way he would have ever banned a customer from the shop. It didn't matter how pissy they were or nasty, they would always be allowed back simply because he always hoped for more sales.
I totally get the employee being on the phone with the manager trying to sort things out. Some bosses would rather see all those other customers leave because of one person making a scene than ban that one person.
