I used to write notes like this to girls on my university's campus that were looking down/ crying sitting on the stairs or etc. If it was a guy I would go make sure they were alright, but depending on the girl I know it could come off as trying to hit on them or have an alternate motive so I would just walk back by and drop a note saying w.e I felt at the time, usually along the lines of keeping your head up and knowing that there are people all around you that care for you even if you have never met them. Some could think it is creepy, but so long as I wasn't writing my name or phone number etc, it showed I had no motives other than showing I cared and wanted them to feel better. The world needs a lot more of that, and less "everyone is trying to murder you" attitude.
