I hate to make someone else's argument for them, but there is a significant difference between cultural leaders and cultural gender roles. Trying to claim the first usually requires some sort of mandate or something from a group. Trying to claim a gender only takes some genitals or maybe just some sexual characteristics.
I'm not sure why they're even debating gender. They don't get it, that's fine. I don't get the Kardashians, but you don't find me debating with people about why they're wrong.
Seriously though, they're like porn actresses or something but they're rich? Life is too short to care.
I think like their dad or uncle was OJ's lawyer (I recently found out OJ was a football player, and I think he rape-killed his gf?) and their mother was smart enough to get them into becoming reality and tabloid stars off that or something by acting like basic bitches (I've never watched any, but this is my perception of all reality tv)
ill never forget the day louie haha and ronnie mozarella chopped off my dick and forced hormone pills down my throat when i failed to pay the protection fee
I love how the person who started the argument by saying that sex and gender we different wasn't applying the correct term to the comic. Comic was right, they were being pedantic and wrong. Pedantic and wrong is my favorite flavor.
If we are drawing a distinction between sex and gender (as we should but with the understanding that these two terms are not broad enough to cover all the salient ground), then the sex of the child would be known before birth (fe/male), but the gender would not be (wo/man), unless we had a way to mark the brain differences between boys and girls in utero (and we don't have a means to do that in vivo for adults). The joke of the comic rests upon the fact that idiotic gender reveal parties (seriously, I've never heard of one of these in real life) are not revealing gender at all, or rather are revealing the gender that doctors and parents will treat the child as until if and when they come out as transgendered. The humor of the joke, if any, rests upon how annoying such parents would be, namely to understand that gender and sex are different, and to instead of having a sex reveal party have a meaningless gender reveal party and waste everyone else's time. Obviously, I find that the humor of this joke falls flat, because, for instance, you just wasted my time and it wasn't funny at all.
Of course babies have gender, they just can't express it. And you made me sad that you didn't read it, because a) you completely missed the argument so you mischaracterized both the comic's and my points, and b) I got in an insult to you at the end that I was rather happy with.
I'm not going to claim that I'm right in everything they I said. But, assuming that you continue to not pay attention to anything longer than one sentence, I'm truly sorry for your future. Because you are currently very ignorant about basic aspects of shared human nature, and you don't even try to hide your ignorance. You actually seem to glory in it. Again, perhaps I'm an outlier and you regularly do engage in paying attention to opposing points of view, but given how this conversation has gone I would consider that unlikely. In other words you are stupid, the sort of willful atrophy of your mind which will get worse over time. You'll notice, if you pay attention to even this, that people grow distant as you refuse to develop as a human being. You'll find that meeting new people will be hard, simply because they'll notice your purposeful, self-inflicted, and cherished mental shortcomings. I'd pity you if it weren't your own doing.
The initial issue settled as well as it can under these circumstances, this does allow me to raise another point. Autism is, paradoxically, a very specific clinical diagnosis which contains a very broad spectrum of behavioral issues. There are individuals diagnosed with autism who for all practical intents and purposes function within society as well as and indistinguishably from neuro-typical individuals. My point in writing this out is not to assert that I do not have autism. That's irrelevant. And my point is not that using autism as an insult, as you just did, is offensive to people with autism. I don't really care if someone gets offended by words. My point, which I hope you're bright enough to understand, is that it is a lazy insult. It shows an ignorance (which seems to be a running theme with you) of the varieties of symptomatologies which can be associated with the disorder. In other words, misusing clinical terminology merely makes you look stupid. And see, there's a perfect example of an insulting word which does not currently have any clinical meaning. There is no denotative nor connotative baggage to parse here, it's simple, straightforward, and expressive. It is my opinion that you don't use your brain too good. And this raises another issue with using autism as an insult: an individual does not choose to be autistic. Whether you care to consider such a person to be lesser is up to you, though I think that's a rather shitty stance to have. Stupidity, however, is a choice. I am criticizing what I consider to be within you a moral deficiency, an abandonment of your own innate gifts in favor of whatever shitty memes your peers are parroting.
The title of king and queen are not part of our culture (I'm assuming North American culture)
...
Cool, I'm in Canada chief. We're not talking about new genders just about the traditional ones. Also I'm trying to figure out what we're arguing about?
/u/nonamee9455, you do know that Canada has a queen, right?
The title of king and queen are not part of our culture (I'm assuming North American culture)
/u/nonamee9455 what the fuck are you talking about? I wouldn't even know where to begin with this. Are you saying that Harry Potter isn't part of "North American culture" both because he's fictitious and because he's English?
I meant that we don't regularity call people your majesty in our day to day lives. We do call people sir of madame though, so it's reasonable to ask to be called one or the other.
I can usually appreciate the retardation in comment chains like the one linked and I would typically have a realistic view of what I am about to see. But man, that thread is a special kind of stupid that's hard to find in its natural habitat on Reddit.
This always happens when /r/Cringeanarchy posts hit the top of /r/all. The festering pepes in the comments section suddenly get outnumbered by normies and lose arguments badly. It's great.
Soo we shouldn't allow our language to evolve as we discover how diverse humanity actually is?
It does not matter if your right that Gender and Sex were used interchangeably last century, they have more specific definitions now and that is what matters.
Seriously speaking I think we need to find a way to look out for the small minority of people who have gender dysphoria and/or other serious mental/physical issues and do what we can to help them and ensure their comfort and well-being without turning transgender into a cultural fetish and encouraging semi-literate mouth-breathers who aren't nearly as smart as they think they are to destroy basic concepts upon which everyone has generally agreed. Until these buffoons went looking for a new way to do their special snowflake dance there was never any serious debate about how interchangeable the terms "gender" and "sex" were.
Not that there's actually any serious debate now, mind you.
It's literally just people arguing over definitions. You know that they mean when they say gender instead of sex, if you think they are technically the same thing what word would you rather they use? Or is it that you can pretend it doesn't exist if a word doesn't exist for it? Like a kind of dictionary extremist? Most debates about this seem to come down to that
Separating sex and gender as an intellectual exercise to study gender roles is one thing. Acting as if they are actually separate things in the real world is just plain insanity. They cannot be separated out in real life.

I'm not sure I follow.
I was making fun of that guy making silly request as if that autistic approach somehow makes sex and gender one and the same.
What's even more funny is he was all full of himself making that argument.

I was referencing this one where the 'chief' thing originated.

I would think that anyone with a high school education knows that sex and gender are different.
n/a Awayfone 2017-04-11
I seen some "enlighten" people get upset at the concept some women are still male. Few people seem to see a difference between sex and gender
n/a Chicup 2017-04-11
You got a dick, you are a dude in a dress who thinks they are a woman.
