Here's the thing. You said a "trilby is a fedora."

I am a bot. (Info / Contact)

If i wanted to know how humans acted the last place I would ask is Reddit.

where's the lie

Reddit is one of the only places in the world where people will just straight up include their sexual preference or some weird, borderline-pathological part of their personality in their initial self-introduction to you.

like right out of the gate: "hi ima gay s&m bondage submissive furry hurr durr"

till Im like "whoa, WHOA! slow down there, pal! First post some bussy first and then we'll see whether or not you're worth me going and buying that 3-ring circus lion tamer's outfit."

I'm not referring to females. I'm referring to people of any sex who are feminine or who exhibit traits "traditionally described as feminine."

Fucking kill me now.

can do. where and when

Well, I'm a child at your closest elementary school. So you better get to work.

Because the one thing that was rampant in medieval Europe (which D&D is based on) was trans*folk

back then they were called 'centaurs'

If you play d and d then the only women you will interact with will be NPCs 😂

not true you interact with your mom when she brings the pizza rolls

Don't roleplay a gender, roleplay a character.

That's sounds awfully close to the advice that spawned "Racefail '09":

Don't think of "the other" as the other. Begin by seeing people as people, regardless of gender, nationality, color, etc., not shiny exotic cute ethnic people -- just people.

Which is yet more evidence that social justice enthusiasts are more interested in finding excuses to bitch about wrongthink than being ideologically consistent.

Leftists are no more interested in curing racism than GlaxoSmithKline is interested in curing diabetes.

just watch i am cait

Femininity in the west, IMO, is best characterized by the unrecognized amount of emotional labor that is culturally expected (culturally being the keyword). If you can portray a character always expected to supress their own thoughts, needs, and desires and hear others' issues and make others feel good all the time... well that's a good start.

i'll take "gigantic autist who has never interacted with a feeeemale" for 200

Wait a second, I thought that suppressing your own emotions and being there to listen to your significant other's complaints were traditionally male traits/roles, /u/ericvulgaris, are you high on something?

I want to get something straight, /u/phorden. You can pretend to be an elf, dwarf, or Irc, but female human is beyond your capacity?

Just how many vaccines were you given as a child, and at what rate?

There're no real elves around to call bullshit on a bad portrayal

You seem like a reasonable person. I like you.

/u/phorden the key things to remember about women is they tend to be more passive than men and to focus more on words than actions. This isn't to say they can't be aggressive however, but they're far more likely to be passive aggressive.

So, while a male NPC who dislikes your PCs might try to cut them down in the tavern, a female NPC is more likely to spread nasty rumors about them. A common mistake writers/GMs in fantasy worlds make is to portray female characters as "men with vaginas" as someone said in the thread, and would in this case have a woman coming at your PCs with a sword, which in a world full of dragons is just unrealistic.

On a related note, since women are so chatty female NPCs also tend to be a good source of information. Women are much more likely to give information than men. Whether your PCs start chit chatting with some local women who blurt out their life stories and all the latest news, or just overhear a bunch of them talking about the latest rumors, you can give a good info dump of the info the players need mixed in with some useless garbage no one cares about.

I recommend watching movies with a STRONG FEMALE LEAD like Mean Girls and as much Real Housewives as you can handle before you barf.

This is really good advice for writing female characters. Wow didnt think id find that here

In unrelated news, men with vaginas are often good customers of Bad Dragon, makers of sex toys that allow you to fill your world full of dragon.

Yea, this seems to be a generalization, but one I think would hold up pretty well with the average group. Thanks for the advice.

RIP in Peace Don Rickles

u/ericvulgaris unironically using "emotional labor" and sperging as hard as u/phorden

That vulgaris guy is one brave whiteknight.
