I think it makes sense to 'get' the arguments behind the show, but not to spend hours watching some shitty TV just to say that you understand something. I don't watch Glee or... I don't know what people watch these days, Dancing with the Stars? Anyway, shit TV is shit TV. Who cares?

I saw the trailer and decided based on that. If it's widely recommended by people I trust, I guess I will give it a shot. And maybe it's one of those cases where the trailer does a horrible job of promoting the show.

But I think it's quite likely to meet my definition of 'shit'.

I'm not white and I don't think you should be embarrassed. A title like that is INTENDED to trigger people. It's how the show is getting it's word out. I mean, it's doing exactly what it's supposed to.
