Weeb here. Most VNs are only barely games. I think they're mostly pretty boring - even the porno ones.

Some DO have some actual gameplay though. For example, VA-11-HALL-A has actual real gameplay elements - you are a bartender, and have to make drinks based on what customers tell you - maybe based on what they told you a few days ago.
