/r/literature mod thinks small Discord server is for-profit, removes and bans any users who try and say otherwise

42  2017-04-23 by THROWAWAYINTENSIFY

Some users from /r/literature made a Discord server, a chatroom service similar to IRC while also including voice chat, to hold disscussion of literature in a more casual setting. Many interest-based subs have Discord servers for their communities. The program is free to use, and while it is possible to make money from it, the server would need several thousand active users to even begin making money. This message was sent to the /r/literature and no advertising was done publically. Soon after, the same mod who declined the request for official support created a thread and stickied it to the top of /r/literature warning users about the rouge channel. Any comments questioning the dessicion were removed. Here is a collection of comments that were removed, of which the users were banned for: https://imgur.com/a/3Whqy

You're not shit next to me. My genes are just light years superior to yours and I don't even need to look at you.

/u/DiggDejected why are you such a weirdo? You run a literature sub ffs lol.

I think you just answered yourself.

/u/diggdejected

What is it like using the internet for the first time?

Let me know if you need some suggestions on WORLD WIDE WEB SITES

xoxo

/u/DiggDejected how the fuck is this the only thread you've ever made in a sub you've been modding for 2.5 years? Do you even read books?

Why would someone make a discord server for a subreddit that is so empty?

THOMAS PYNCHON HUSBANDO

$$$

and where do you get off creating a discord server for us

Where do reddit mods get off constantly believing they ARE the community instead of just another part of it?

/u/DiggDejected, try something out. Take a month off. Watch as nothing happens. Or better, watch as your communities actually improve as they're allowed to grow naturally without your aspergers getting in the way.

Oh DiggDejected?

Lol. Yeah. Not surprised it's him.

/u/riemann1413, did you get banned from /r/literature or did they just remove your comment?

banned and removed!

for the record, the exact comment i replied to /u/DiggDejected with was:

wait, you understand this wouldn't apply to the /r/literature discord tho right?

for running a lit subreddit, you seem not to have read their site very well...

It probably would have been removed anyways, but I like to think that reporting your comment for brigading helped.

WOW RUDE

This is honestly some of the most retarded drama I've ever seen, what a spaz
