Snapshill coming in with the 🔥 quote.

It's not really a ratings issue. The issue is that with people cutting the cord, ESPN's main source of revenue of subscription fees is being reduced dramatically.

It's not a ratings issue, people are just not watching because they don't have cable

Well then. Thanks for clearing that up

The only worse thing than being wrong on the internet is being wrong about someone else being wrong. It's not about ratings. It's about the per subscriber fee espn efforts from cable companies by insisting on being on a non-premium tier. They get almost $8 per subscriber whether they watch espn or not. What they get in ad sales is peanuts in comparison. The total number of cable subscribers going down is the real problem.

K

Ratings are down Bc cord cutters m80...

I called DTV and told them I didn't want ESPN in my line-up so they took it (and some other crap) out and it saved me $50 a month.

I really have no hate in my heart for ESPN, and I usually hate reddit's hate jerking. But man, for some reason when Redditors start hate jerking over ESPN I get livid about their nazi-level crimes against humanity including airing a special and talking about race. Literally the holocaust.

Have you seen the 6 pm sportscenter lately? It's fucking terrible. Stuart Scott didn't die for Michael and Jemele.

No tbh I'm a cable cutter. lol

I travel a lot for work though and catch it fairly often in hotels, it just doesn't bother me

To be fair it took an absolute nosedive right as tebow exploded (deadspin did a good piece on it back then). Additionally with the rise of the social media and sites like this you simply don't need ESPN as much anymore, so why turn into crappy programming that essentially has become sports TMZ. People are now upset because one of the few reasons they would turn in at all anymore was for the favorite hosts or whatever, who are now getting canned.

As a hockey guy I've lost respect for the channel many moons ago

I'd say the nose dive began right about when Brett Favre became a Jet.

This isn't a shitshow unless you happen to work for ESPN

Lol good, watching sports is stupid

If ESPN dies so does cable, so this is a good thing.

If ESPN dies I'll be able to watch MNF without pirating it.

How can you fuck up a network dedicated to sports? Start talking about non-sports related stuff.

90% of your viewers tune in for scores, highlights, and snappy dialog, not political and social commentary.

Some dude in the original thread mentioned they were covering the autistic kid who got his own Blockbuster display yesterday. Why? The only way that would have been relevant is if some pro player had donated the stuff.

Twitter is better for scores, highlights and retarded dialogue than cable now. They lost their niche.

Ahhh ESPN, the channel of the hot sports take.

Cut to the entire editorial staff of Deadspin jizzing uncontrollably.
