Fucking Brits. First it was The Boston Massacre, and now this.

Data farming is literally the biggest reason why companies create contests. It wasn't called data farming back in the day but if you have to fill out a card with your name, address, phone number, and email in order to possibly win a prize then you are willingly handing them useful advertising info.

The fast food place I worked at did this. The had a bowl where you put in your info for a chance to get free food. After a month or so we would take the bowl, pick a winner, and send the cards to corporate.
