It actually affects the game though. A loud minority convinces the company their views are the majority, guess what happened next? The art and creative direction was further sanitized to the point where nothing offensive in the slightest to anybody makes it on cards anymore, and the protagonists are mostly PoCs, women or sexually ambiguous for social justice points. Nobody except a loud minority that didn't actually spend very much on the game wanted this, and it's hurt sales as a result. A similar thing happened at Marvel and in a lot of game development companies.
As for my hygiene, I've never liked showering. That's probably why I became a nerd to begin with.

tbh I think nerd culture has it worse in this respect than most other cultures. Feminists have been attacking comedians for a long time, but there are still plenty of comedians telling offensive jokes. And there are plenty of drama films with questionable content, but those films generate little to no controversy. Even someone like Woody Allen can still make critically acclaimed films. If he was part of "nerd culture" he would have been chased out of the industry long ago. And that's not even to mention all the legitimate misogyny in hip hop.
I think the problem is that the nerdy feminists are, like nerds generally, more hysterical than the general population, and more disconnected from reality. Also, nerd culture is full of nu males who think that the feeeemales will finally touch their penis if they kowtow to all their bullshit. And those who don't wanna play the nice guy typically end up sperging out and taking up the anti-SJW crusade, which only makes the feminists and nu males look like the sane ones in the debate.
Not that nerd culture is at all worth saving in the first place, but the correct response is just to ignore those people and keep doing what you're doing. Culture war is always a dead end.
Another big factor is that the creatives in the nerd culture industry tend to see nerds not as an audience but as customers. It's very heavily commercialized. And so you don't really find artists working to create their own particular niche audience. Everyone is looking for the widest possible appeal, which necessarily means they will be quick to sanitize their work of anything offensive.
