I started using Usenet about the time that he started posting. For a while, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Y'know, like maybe he was a super abrasive and rude guy that was actually some kind of genius.
Of course, in time, it became obvious that he was no genius, and the release of BC3K and his subsequent deflections, excuses and lies made it clear that the only thing he was really good at was creating drama.
What cracked me up was that there was a Round 2. Some MMO that was struggling to hit release (Allods? no. Alganon? Something like that.) that was already attracting some pretty salty haters, when they for some reason hired DS to take over development. This was all in MMORPG.com's forums IIRC.
More coke machine and PhD hilarity. He continued to insist he had the degree. Threatened a few people with defamation. The game he was working on got worse and I think he just faded out of the picture. Or maybe he was going to sue the publisher or something.
There were also many comments on the ad campaign, which feature
some hot looking chick with the box between her legs.
