Did you know that the bathtub was first marketed in north america as a horse trough and dog scalder?

Acting US attorney Joon Kim said McFarland presented fake documents to convince investors to put more than $US1 million into his company and the failed festival.

...

McFarland, 25, is expected to appear before a federal magistrate judge over the weekend.

You mean the 25-year-old didnt actually have access to funds of a $1m? I am shocked.

You don't need access to 1 million dollars for other people to invest that much.

You need other people to have believed enough in a 25 year-old with no money and no relevant experience that they handed him over $1m to organise a multi-day event for thousands of people in another country with zero infrastructure.

Didn't he have money from his dumb fake credit card?

AFAIK that failed miserably.

He edited a brokerage account statement to show that he owned $2.5m worth of Facebook shares, when he actually only owns around $1,500.

I don't always commit fraud, but when I do, I do it on an exponential scale. Lol.

'Attendees paid more than $US12,000 for the weekend event'

No they didn't. I watched this drama at the time because I expected way more than I got... which... ironically was the theme of the event.

HOWEVER, that quote is completely false and so I can't help but think most of this article is also exaggeration and so fuuuuuuuuck you OP

I don't know what you're talking about bro, some of the VIP packages went for 20k per person.

Did they? I feel like we were watching this shitfest explode ages ago and can't remember how much people paid to go.

Most I saw was like 4 grand and that was for VIP. Not sure where this 12k bullshit is coming from

Maybe they're counting travel expenses, or extra fees for certain luxuries

The sticker price was probably $12k, but I doubt many people (if any) paid that price.

Think it was something like that for the high end accommodations supposedly and was for more than one person.

"I paid 12k so I could shit in my Yurt and go backstage to see Ja-Rule"

This is why we need Mayocide now.

Would you walk away from a fool and his money?

Absolutely not. I'm kind of mad i never thought of a scam like.

Sometimes I hate being ethical.

Have you heard of crypto currency?

You pissed away your checking account going to this disaster didn't you?

Upper middle class got fucked.....lol.

Poor detected

Eat the rich

You misspelled bussy

That's the richest part

I think people who spent money on this shit are just your average middle-class who wish they had such a lifestyle but normally can't afford it, so it was intended as a kind of a "once in a lifetime" experience. Well, once in a life-time indeed. But I am not getting any schadenfreude from this.

I got the impression that the high price tickets never really sold, and even the low price ones were mostly bought through flash sales.

For example, this guy paid only $500, including flight. Not sure if it covered his luxury airport terminal floor accommodations though.

Who the fuck would spend $12k to see a festival headlined by someone as washed up as Ja Rule? I'm sure he will be playing the gathering of the juggalos in a couple years for a fraction of that.

Oh shit was Ja Rule performing?

no

I think Blink 182 was headlining, which isn't any better.

If anything, it makes it funnier.

Say it ain't so.

I will not go

Needs Smashmouth playing their one song to a 2 hour Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives clips.

How dare you, I'll have you know Smash-Mouth have 2 songs.

Is there a remix?

There's "I'm A Believer" you uncultured swine

An exclusive festival that can be reached only via time machine.

White people

I went, however I got my tickets for 1/4 of the face value.

It was cool, I guess. Got to see Rhianna and Sting. The concerts were very intimate, only about 1000 people where at the Rhianna show. She satyed after and had drinks and smoked some blunts, pretty chill.

Sting was terrible though.

Wasn't the fyre festival a complete disaster from the start?

yes

I was under the impression there was no artists that actually went. Not sure what event op was talking about.

He made it up

Yeah, it was.

I just try to be positive about it because I spent 4 grand on tickets.

It was a great location though, and there were plenty of hot chicks. I would do it again.

Ticket cost of $12k
Says he spent 1/4 of ticket face value
Spent $4k

Fucks sake you can't even math right when you make shit up.

Ticket master fees don't fuck around

He got the 1 week shipping option

Taxes, Bro.

I just try to be positive about it because I spent 4 grand on tickets.

lol weeb

Did you get to fight feral dogs?

Iiar. Show us pics and receipts

Wow, this totally happened!

why the fuck are you lying about seeing sting? id lie about not seeing sting, to avoid bringing shame on my bloodline

Do you know why I got my ticket at 1/4 face value?

Bring Ja Rule's gay lover has it's perks, pal.

Mayo get out reeeeeee!

Never forget the plight of the rich white people.

I have mixed feelings on this guy. On the one hand he's a sleazy conman. On the other hand fuck Cheslea scenesters

"Let just do it and be legends".

I called this right after it happened and people were trying to argue with me that it was all some kind of misunderstanding lol.
