During this year's april fools, a few boards were combined on 4chan. One of the combos was /mlp/ and /pol/ which allegedly worked out pretty well because /pol/ believed that it kept out redditors who were only there for Trump maymays. A day or two after April 1st, the experiment ended, and there was a big fight on /qa/ to keep /mlpol/. It didn't work, so somebody made their own external /mlpol/.
