You're oversimplifying a complex situation to the point of adding nothing to the discussion.

I am a bot. (Info / Contact)

Mentally ill tranny gets triggered over someone setting up a survey asking male or female and not 17 different options for the 0.3 % who have trouble with that question, then does shitty work and wants lots of time off for mental and personal issues, is surprised when it gets canned for being a hyper emotional fruitbat and crappy worker.

asking male or female and not 17 different options

Is that so?

If you want to know if a survey respondent is transgender, you need to explicitly ask that question."

That just means have a separate boolean question.

Wellp.

She is insufferable.

Yeah, no way I'm reading that whole thing.

She seems to think the world she lives in is one wherein she is not insufferable.

She is mistaken.

Skimming it, here are the highlights:

  • Criticizing meritocracy in like the first paragraph.

  • Was proud that her new team had 3 WoC, and 2 trans. She seems to be one of the trans members, and considering the lack of bitching about the man, I think it's a good bet that he used to be a she.

  • Bitches about other engineers correcting her code.

  • Wrote out an announcement for a feature that would have saved her from the harassment she previously received - said "harassment" seeming to be people just linking her to edgy meme folders in order to troll her.

  • The above announcement was so personal and vitriolic, and she so obstinate in not being personal and vitriolic - it's a feature update FFS - that someone else had to write the freaking announcement. She, of course, bitches about this. That a man was the one that rewrote her announcement seems to be particularly upsetting to her.

  • Badgers a woman writing a survey because they included only "transgender" alongside "male" and "female", seemingly upset that including 819 different genders isn't conducive to a survey form. She had to be told to stop giving input.

  • Bitches about not having someone to boss around as a "mentor", and then bitches about being told to stop bossing around the woman she picked out to "mentor" anyway.

  • Regularly virtue signals about fighting for marginalized people.

  • It finally comes to a head that she ODs on anxiety meds, and then while she is at the hospital she was...transferred to another hospital! gasp The horror!

  • The above cough trauuuumma seems to have been sooo bad that she can barely work at all, which combined with her general bitchiness results in her being fired.

TL;DR: She is insufferable.

Shockingly a dude who thinks he's a woman is batshit crazy who would have thunk it

I dunno man, when you see John from IT name himself "Coraline" like he's a fucking WoW Night Elf or some shit, I think of controlled sanity.

Even the tl;dr was tl;dr

Yeah I got bored writing it part way in but I felt committed.

I think it may have given me cancer. The only attention she deserves is that which is necessary to dismiss and ignore her. Bitch is cray.

How about this:

Boss: "Does Not Meet Expectations."

Failure at life: "In my mind this was a serious management failure."

Perfect!

Even more TL;DR: tranny gets hired for diversity, bitches about everything, coworkers hate him, gets written up by the boss repeatedly, eventually comes in fucked up on prescription drugs and gets fired. Writes blog post about how unfair this is.

you missed the part about her being institutionalised for 8 days

What I love is that she "opened up to her manager about her trauma" after getting in trouble and then bitches about being told that's manipulative. As if "opening up about your trauma" is some great gift to give your fucking boss in the fucking workplace.

Your boss doesn't give half a shit about daddy touching your bussy as a kid, you fucking mongoloid, and its retardedly inappropriate to share that info with them esp to try and get yourself out of trouble. Keep that shit for your therapist or maybe an exceptionally close friend.

tl;dr: whiny tranny is a flaming autist, whodathunk

I've also found stuff to criticize in her post, but are insult necessary?

How did you even find this four month old post? I don't even remember what this is about.

are insults necessary?

You're in /r/drama fam.

He got transferred to another hospital and was at one point scared by some of the other patients there. He wasn't hurt or threatened at all, just another patient yelled at him and he got flirted with some (looking at his twitter profile picture I sincerely doubt that part), and he says he was "severely traumatized" by this.

Nigga you don't got the first concept of what trauma actually is. Appropriating the struggles of people that have actually survived some real shit smdh

I reccomend actually reading this. I read the whole thing, and found it interesting.

I dont want to cast judgement on it, because I don't know github side.

On one hand, she is a child that thinks everything revolves around her, is extremely entitled and has the social skills of a leaking faucet.

On the other hand GitHub unironically uses 'empathy' in their official corespondence, hires based on identity and then step in when evil male engineers correct some code, and their HR sounds like it is run by pod people.

There are no good guys in this, only autists.

Is this the person who went on a holy jihad to get Codes of Conduct in open source projects, and called projects hostile if they didn't?

Yes. One of those persons.

Oh god, I remember when that was announced, one of the many reasons why I use TFS instead.

You do realize you can use Git without using GitHub, right? GitHub is just a repository.

Yes, TFS is a repository that uses Git.

Oh, you use Git with it. When I saw TFS I assumed you went with TFVC.

No worries easy misunderstanding.

Shocking that a person who considers white men to be subhuman exhibits a lack of empathy.

The MEH who originally replies to her talked about it. His post kind of makes me cringe tho: http://meh.schizofreni.co/random/lulz/2016/01/08/tales-from-a-gate.html

'charged with making GitHub more safe for marginalized people '

Tha fuck? It's a website for sharing source code. Thhhha fuck is WRONG with people in tech nowadays.

Eh, the existence of that team makes a lot of sense. Github is a large platform with strong social aspects, and that means bullying of various sorts is inevitable. It's only in their best interests to make the place safer and more friendly. Last thing you want if you're in their position is having random 4chanesque autists meming up the place.

'As an example, a couple of years ago someone created a dozen repositories with racist names '

I think the part where they added her as a reviewer without consent is more interesting, and is something worth fixing. Github profiles go onto resumes these days, they're a professional statement as much as anything else. Keeping unwanted repos off your profile is common sense and should have been in from the beginning.

I get discouraging bullying behaviors, and possibly not allowing racist project names

But then these people start freaking out about standardized industry terms that offend their delicate sensibilities and make everyone actually talented want nothing to do with it. Or demand that a project knock off a bunch of pointless checkmarks that have nothing to do with the codebase.

While claiming to have good intentions they do nothing but damage the community.

I'm not going to defend sjws going way too far with their shtick, good intentions or not, and this woman does sound insufferable. Still, many of their concerns are valid and need to be addressed - just not with over the top police state that they seem to want to foist on everyone.

My favorite part about this stuff is that I can never decide who is more fragile, entrenched nerds who are fighting for their little clubhouse and juvenile habits, or hyper offended social justice princesses.

As a funny coincidence I actually hooked up with someone on this team once, one of the aforementioned WoC (read - Asian), and probably the mentee/recent boot camp graduate she mentions. Smart girl, hope she goes far. Small world.

Why the hell would you fire anyone named "Coraline" in the first place? If I was in HR and saw that, I'd chuck it ASAP because a name like that screams "future false discrimination or sexual harassment lawsuit".

It could be a common name in another country... For example in France there is Coralie, not that far isn't it?

The same day that I had this review, I got some devastating personal news. I have bipolar depression and was already in a bad place mentally, so I found myself feeling crushed and hopeless. In an attempt to deal with things I ended up taking a dangerously high dose of my anti-anxiety medication. When I reached out to my therapist for help, she recommended that I go to the emergency room. This was the start of an eight day ordeal involving involuntary commitment to a mental health facility. I shared this experience on Twitter and won't rehash it here, but suffice it to say that I was severely traumatized by what happened to me in the hospital.

I was shocked to read this... shocked, and shocked she was "severly traumatized".. I'm guessing shes the type thats severely traumatized when an old man calls her "Sweety".

Yeah, I was reading along and had a vague feeling that this person's problem was largely her own making, and then that part just proved it. Had a bad review because she was a dick, went on to have a mental breakdown... welll

Had a bad review because she was a dick

The difference between the weekly and annual review is what she emphasize. Not the bad review itself.

Had a bad review because she was a dick, went on to have a mental breakdown... welll

The work doesn't seem to be the major cause. That's what I understand from rereading the paragraph and reading this: https://twitter.com/CoralineAda/status/856929039193317376

That old man must be blind! (Rimshot)

She should stop programming in ruby and using git and convert to python and mercurial.

First time I've ever seen "meritocracy" used as a bad word.

havent been around many sjws eh

i envy you

"meritocracy is prejudiced because everybody is more privileged than me! so give me the job please for being a tranny"

It was a whole controversy, Github had a rug with the word meritocracy on it, the prominent "tech" SJWs got really mad about it because meritocracy is "problematic" and "toxic" and so on, Github got rid of the rug.

Why GitHub’s CEO Ditched Its Divisive ‘Meritocracy’ Rug

It depends what is put behind "meritocracy", it could be either great or toxic.

It's very likely that critics or praises doesn't speak about the same thing.

A couple of months later, I finished up a feature that I was very excited about: repository invitations. With repository invitations, no one could add someone else to a repository without their consent. Feature releases such as these are frequently promoted on the GitHub blog, and the product manager on my team encouraged me to write a post announcing what I had shipped. Since it was so important to me personally, I wrote an impassioned piece talking about how this feature closed a security gap that had directly affected and provided an abuse vector against me.

Haha code review is rape now.

Well, to be honest this:

a couple of years ago someone created a dozen repositories with racist names and added me to the repos, so my GitHub profile had racial slurs on it

shouldn't be allowed to happen either. I think the invitation feature is perfectly sensible.

No actually it's hillarious.

Also who cares if they are racial, I doubt someone will want that with any kinds of slurs.

Sure. I mean, people include their github profile on their resumes, it makes perfect sense to be able to have some level of curating power.

I was well aware of GitHub's very problematic past, from its promotion of meritocracy in place of a management system

Fuck this planet, nuclear apocalypse when

I like the ending of that shit:

But that problem wasn't mine.

Bipolar bitch thinks she's perfect.

thinks she's perfect.

That's a totally polarized/extreme interpretation you got there. (emphasis of the word perfect)

Why are there so many trans woman programmers compared to cis female programmers?

Too much computer -> less time outside doing the masculine -> sympathy for the feminine

Too much computer -> get good at programming or something IT

The amount of traps/CDs/TGs on /g/ and /tech/ is shockingly representative in the industry.

There's nothing feminine about being on the computer

Oh yes there is, I'm one of the victims too.

one minute you're learning java and the next you're learning how to use an enema bag

Because they are male, and there are more males than females in programming, regardless of anyone's ''gender identity''

There aren't thaaat many, they're mostly overrepresented in open source software for some reason. Trans women in general seem to have an outsized presence on Internet forums in general see Twitter

That said it seems like a hugely disproportionate number of trans women are programmers. Something something male patterned autism, I dunno.

People in tech like trannies more than actual women tbh

It really seems to me that she was unpleasant to be around, used emotional ploys whenever her performance was questioned, and made every conversation about that time someone raped her (invited her to a repository without consent)

But it also looks like they decided to fire her a while ago, and used a bunch of flimsy excuses to do justify it.

which, honestly, I can't blame them for. If I accidentally hired someone this toxic, I'd go to HR and beg them to help me 'politely let go' this person

Same thing happened to Alison Rapp at Nintendo. Luckily, she sped the process along by being a hooker.

She is unpleasant to be around. I've been checking in on her Twitter account every few weeks ever since her issue on the Opal repo and she is absolutely a black hole of negativity .

and used a bunch of flimsy excuses to do justify it.

Yeah and the alternative would have been "everyone finds you to be absolutely insufferable, even the people on your team. They told you they got fired, but really they quit because they couldn't stand being around you".

No matter how much someone imports social justice, Coraline Ada will make them run far away with her poor outlook on life.

I love how she is writing a piece in her defense and yet she still unknowingly manages to make herself out to be the bad guy.

Talk about oblivious.

Well, she acknowledged a part of the communication issues she was reproached with. So it's not a "it's 100% other's fault" post. That's actually good.

If some nutjob takes a week off of work for medical anxiety then immediately another week for bereavement I'm going to fire her ass too. It's called a job. You're supposed work at it. Nobody owes you shit.

Silicon Valley tech jobs tend to be pretty generous with this sort of stuff. You generally don't get to treat your employees like McDonalds line workers.

Oh yes. As a matter of fact any job will cut you a lot of leeway outside of policy as long as you - and here's the important thing- do your job.

Seems to me like she was being forced out because a) they didn't like her, which seems justified and b) she probably wasn't really doing her job, despite her claim of being a "famous developer."

If you do your job your employer isn't going to invent reasons to sack you, so I guess I would amend my first statement a bit. I would sack anyone that wasn't doing their job properly if they did that. It would be the last straw.

Acceptable: taking medical leave to go to the nuthouse to deal with your mental shit. Unacceptable: making the whole office deal with your mental shit.

Wow that's some sad consideration to workers :(

"Coraline Ada".

Somehow that's worse than a stripper name.

TL;DR?

When I reached out to my therapist for help, she recommended that I go to the emergency room.

I'll file this under unintentionally hilarious - this person is such a nightmare to deal with, even her therapist is giving her a pass.
