I'm technically a DoD employee, and I manage military folk, so I had to go to the long ass senior training last year. The very very very very long story short, once medical personnel said you were trans (which the people briefing were super careful not to make any judgment on) you had some specified amount of time to transition (determined by doctors, not by the military), but you were whatever gender marker you were until it was deemed complete. Which is sorta lol because you could take female hormones and struggle to pass a PT test at male standards.

That's not true though. Once you start the transition you are automatically in a nondeployable status. This is another big reason why there was a lot of lashback against trans in the military.
Women get pregnant all the time to avoid deploying. A soldier could join the military, transition, get out, with a nondeployable status the entire time. There's not return on that investment from the military.
The point being that people can join the military with the intention of transitioning, and avoid deploying, and get out. It's a huge waste of resources.

When they transition, from start to finish, they are undeployable. This is according to DoD regulation. Most transitions take years so you have a soldier who's not really a soldier. So in my opinion any soldier that is transitioning in the military is already abusing the system

Check it out, good friend, when someone gets in trouble in a strange way or has some weird issue, the response by the command team is the same: the lowest level commander, who's probably like 28, goes "Fuck, what do we do" to the First Sergeant or whatever they call them in other services.
The First Sergeant has either seen it before and has an idea, or hasn't and doesn't, so he asks his friends, the other Senior NCOs in the unit if they know. This process takes about 5 hours, as they all sit in his office and tell stories and joke and generally fuck off the entire day with each other while doing about a half an hour's worth of work. Then, after all that, they say "Well, that's my guess, but let's look at the reg."
The regulation then dictates what they do, and let me assure they COULD NOT GIVE A FUCK what the fucking president's intent was when he told the Secretary of Defense to craft a policy that may or may not have been handed down in turn to the Secretary of the Army (or whatever service). The reg is the reg is the reg.
Which is why there's huge attention paid to "the commander may" versus "the commander shall". In the first one, the commander has options. In the second, he doesn't.
As far as this policy goes, the commander can decide to leave someone at home when they deploy. The commander always has that option, with any of his troops, so long as the operational personnel of the deploying unit is above x%, with that percent dictated by the MTOE.
So you can say the commander wouldn't risk having a trans soldier die. Okay, maybe. I highly, highly fucking doubt it, but what do I know in light of your greatness? But if so, that's the commander's personal call and has nothing to do with the policy, where trans people aren't given any special treatment in that regard.

Except gender dysphoria is a hard thing to deal with. There's no way you could prove they KNEW they had it before joining unless they join with the diagnosis already. Furthermore, what if you are and choose to not transition? What if you change your mind later? HRT/ surgury is a big thing to undergo and it's not an easy decision to make.

Transitioning takes years to complete and the people being in them are generally undeployable. It's a soldier that can't be relied on to be a soldier. Just because the budget has issues doesn't mean we should let more people abuse it.
For reference, you need to score a 50 to get out of a basic. Then for the rest of your life, getting lower than 60 is failing. Fail twice in a row and you can be kicked out. Again, commander's discretion. In practice after you fail once, you'll have a month to unfuck yourself, but that timeline, too, can be fudged, depending on if you're well liked or not.

It was officially recognized in the rules for different branches. Like when can a transgender soldier start using showers or bunks aligning his new gender, how to proceed through transition (medical aspects, but also records and military identity).

I don't condone blanket parties as I've stated before when explaining them and why we used to have them but I mean if it works it works. I remember getting the shit kicked out of me for doing stupid shit when I was in. Needless to say it was fucking awful but I never made the mistake that warranted such an ass kicking ever again so it was effective (my ribs hurt just thinking about it).
So there I was in the Army. Young, naive, and in the Cap's office trying to get him to sign some papers from sick call. It had recently been discovered that my knees and back weren't as good as they used to be. More importantly, it was discovered that I hadn't told MEPS about it when entered into the Army. I wanted to just move on from TRADOC and get on with my career but the shit heels in command of the battalion wanted me to go to an FTU first. I told them that I wanted to either get on with my career or they could kiss my ass goodbye until I decided to come back in a few years (which I'm in the process of doing right now). As it turns out the Captain doesn't like this and says that he "Don't gotta sign shit" to which I replied "Well, actually sir, it says on the back of the paperwork that you indeed have to sign it." He crossed his arms, scoffed, and went on some long winded bullshit lecture on how he doesn't have to and blahblahfuckingblah. He told me that I had no say on what he and his fellow officers wanted to do with me. Now, to the young punkish dick that I was at the time this was a direct challenge to me. We continued to trade quips and eventually my CO tells me that if I think I have some shit up my sleeve my sleeve to pull to get him to sign my papers and move me on towards going home since none of them wanted to listen to me that I should do it. Little did he know that I have no problem calling bluffs. So what did young dumb Private Salsa do? I decided to leave base for three days without permission to go fuck around. On the third day I swiped my card at a motel to let the Army know where I was. That night I got a call from my very angry Captain who told me he was about to send the MPs after me the following morning if I didn't tell him what I was doing and that I was coming back. So I agreed that enough was enough and that it was about time I returned to the base. That morning I grabbed a bus ticket and I was on my way back with a Monster and an Inked magazine. When I got to the bus station I was greeted by two very aggravated MPs who took me to the vehicles they had parked out in the lot. On the way over to the battalion they stopped to grab themselves a bite and asked me if I wanted anything which I declined. Once we got back I was taken into the room where we hosted our infamous death by PowerPoint sessions and weekend combatives classes. I knew I was fucked as soon as we walked in and the door closed behind me. They asked how I managed to sneak off base in the middle of the night and avoid being caught when I was leaving the state. They asked how I managed to keep my paper trail small enough to give the watchdogs a head ache from being yelled at for not having a solid location on me. I told them everything and to my surprise I received an impressed whistle. It was at the moment I knew the pain train was about to begin as the same man that whistled leaned closer to me and asked me if I knew what was about to happen. I nodded quietly and waited for the first blow in response. For what felt like an eternity I was punched, kicked, and slammed about the place. They never left any marks on my face, they were smarter than that, but God damn was I surprised that I didn't have any broken ribs from the ass kicking I got. I never said a word during my punishment and never swung back. I took my licks and if I got knocked down I got back up (well, when they'd let me get back up that is). I never told anyone about it until a year or so after I got home from the Army. My CO called me crazy and a liability, my NCOs called me ballsy and told me I should try to reenlist if I ever got the opportunity. I earned the respect of a few of the SNCOs and their fellow cadre for it somehow. All I know is that I never pulled shit like that again. And so now here I am all these years later taking the opportunity to reenlist just as was recommended to me by some NCOs who saw in me someone with balls when our CO saw in me a trouble maker and an ass. Moral of the story: Be careful who's bluff you call and how you do it.

I wasn't happy about getting out but I knew that they'd call me on my saying that I was going to leave if they didn't want to play ball. 19 year old me was a pain in the ass and had a knack for learning things the hard way. I'm not going to get my security clearance back but I still can get back in so long as I mind my manners. Hopefully they'll work with me and not make things harder than they have to be. They're loud, proud, and strong enough to make up for being dumb. I like to describe the relationship between the military and the individuals in it as a love/hate sort of deal. We love what we do but we hate it at the same time. The same can be said about our interactions with each other. One moment we'll be Bros and the next we'll be talking shit or pummeling each other in combative class for some petty shit.

There are a lot of liberals to though. I myself never paid it much attention though because to everyone I was with we all just saw each other as family and left things at that. I'm technically a DoD employee, and I manage military folk, so I had to go to the long ass senior training last year. The very very very very long story short, once medical personnel said you were trans (which the people briefing were super careful not to make any judgment on) you had some specified amount of time to transition (determined by doctors, not by the military), but you were whatever gender marker you were until it was deemed complete. Which is sorta lol because you could take female hormones and struggle to pass a PT test at male standards.
And if you were gonna deploy or whatever during that time, oh well, stop doing that and go fight a war, buddy.

What? I'm not sure you know how the military works. Check it out, good friend, when someone gets in trouble in a strange way or has some weird issue, the response by the command team is the same: the lowest level commander, who's probably like 28, goes "Fuck, what do we do" to the First Sergeant or whatever they call them in other services.
The First Sergeant has either seen it before and has an idea, or hasn't and doesn't, so he asks his friends, the other Senior NCOs in the unit if they know. This process takes about 5 hours, as they all sit in his office and tell stories and joke and generally fuck off the entire day with each other while doing about a half an hour's worth of work. Then, after all that, they say "Well, that's my guess, but let's look at the reg."
The regulation then dictates what they do, and let me assure they COULD NOT GIVE A FUCK what the fucking president's intent was when he told the Secretary of Defense to craft a policy that may or may not have been handed down in turn to the Secretary of the Army (or whatever service). The reg is the reg is the reg.
Which is why there's huge attention paid to "the commander may" versus "the commander shall". In the first one, the commander has options. In the second, he doesn't.
As far as this policy goes, the commander can decide to leave someone at home when they deploy. The commander always has that option, with any of his troops, so long as the operational personnel of the deploying unit is above x%, with that percent dictated by the MTOE.
So you can say the commander wouldn't risk having a trans soldier die. Okay, maybe. I highly, highly fucking doubt it, but what do I know in light of your greatness? But if so, that's the commander's personal call and has nothing to do with the policy, where trans people aren't given any special treatment in that regard.

Furthermore, what if you are and choose to not transition? What if you change your mind later? HRT/ surgury is a big thing to undergo and it's not an easy decision to make.

For reference, you need to score a 50 to get out of a basic. Then for the rest of your life, getting lower than 60 is failing. Fail twice in a row and you can be kicked out. Again, commander's discretion. In practice after you fail once, you'll have a month to unfuck yourself, but that timeline, too, can be fudged, depending on if you're well liked or not.
Pushups and situps are a two minute event each. You can "rest" by being up in a plank/downward facing dog kinda thing for the pushups. You can rest during the situps by just hanging out while you're up (not laying on the ground).
So pushups are laughable: Without looking, I'm pretty sure for some ages, the bare minimum a woman needs to max out her score is lower than the minimum a man needs to get the bare minimum. Because guys have stronger pectorals. Except for you.
Situps are exactly the same.

Nah, women have to do a lot less to be accepted, at least in the US. Even for the rangers, who just recently started accepting women and made a big deal about equal standards, the women get special training courses to ensure that they pass the tests. Even then, 2 out of the 20 women who signed up managed to pass. The pass rate among men was 40%-50%.

It was officially recognized in the rules for different branches. Like when can a transgender soldier start using showers or bunks aligning his new gender, how to proceed through transition (medical aspects, but also records and military identity).
Very important if you want to avoid harassment lawsuits. Either from the trannies, or for instance the women who have to share their shower with a dude. And since it's the armed forces and everyone there is basically a retarded bigot to begin with, those rules about genders and transition needed to be very clear and iron clad.

So there I was in the Army. Young, naive, and in the Cap's office trying to get him to sign some papers from sick call. It had recently been discovered that my knees and back weren't as good as they used to be. More importantly, it was discovered that I hadn't told MEPS about it when entered into the Army. I wanted to just move on from TRADOC and get on with my career but the shit heels in command of the battalion wanted me to go to an FTU first. I told them that I wanted to either get on with my career or they could kiss my ass goodbye until I decided to come back in a few years (which I'm in the process of doing right now). As it turns out the Captain doesn't like this and says that he "Don't gotta sign shit" to which I replied "Well, actually sir, it says on the back of the paperwork that you indeed have to sign it." He crossed his arms, scoffed, and went on some long winded bullshit lecture on how he doesn't have to and blahblahfuckingblah. He told me that I had no say on what he and his fellow officers wanted to do with me. Now, to the young punkish dick that I was at the time this was a direct challenge to me. We continued to trade quips and eventually my CO tells me that if I think I have some shit up my sleeve my sleeve to pull to get him to sign my papers and move me on towards going home since none of them wanted to listen to me that I should do it. Little did he know that I have no problem calling bluffs. So what did young dumb Private Salsa do? I decided to leave base for three days without permission to go fuck around. On the third day I swiped my card at a motel to let the Army know where I was. That night I got a call from my very angry Captain who told me he was about to send the MPs after me the following morning if I didn't tell him what I was doing and that I was coming back. So I agreed that enough was enough and that it was about time I returned to the base. That morning I grabbed a bus ticket and I was on my way back with a Monster and an Inked magazine. When I got to the bus station I was greeted by two very aggravated MPs who took me to the vehicles they had parked out in the lot. On the way over to the battalion they stopped to grab themselves a bite and asked me if I wanted anything which I declined. Once we got back I was taken into the room where we hosted our infamous death by PowerPoint sessions and weekend combatives classes. I knew I was fucked as soon as we walked in and the door closed behind me. They asked how I managed to sneak off base in the middle of the night and avoid being caught when I was leaving the state. They asked how I managed to keep my paper trail small enough to give the watchdogs a head ache from being yelled at for not having a solid location on me. I told them everything and to my surprise I received an impressed whistle. It was at the moment I knew the pain train was about to begin as the same man that whistled leaned closer to me and asked me if I knew what was about to happen. I nodded quietly and waited for the first blow in response. For what felt like an eternity I was punched, kicked, and slammed about the place. They never left any marks on my face, they were smarter than that, but God damn was I surprised that I didn't have any broken ribs from the ass kicking I got. I never said a word during my punishment and never swung back. I took my licks and if I got knocked down I got back up (well, when they'd let me get back up that is). I never told anyone about it until a year or so after I got home from the Army. My CO called me crazy and a liability, my NCOs called me ballsy and told me I should try to reenlist if I ever got the opportunity. I earned the respect of a few of the SNCOs and their fellow cadre for it somehow. All I know is that I never pulled shit like that again. And so now here I am all these years later taking the opportunity to reenlist just as was recommended to me by some NCOs who saw in me someone with balls when our CO saw in me a trouble maker and an ass. Moral of the story: Be careful who's bluff you call and how you do it.

They're loud, proud, and strong enough to make up for being dumb. I've met plenty of crayon eaters though and most of them were pretty well mannered and didn't have a problem with differing political views. I find it all comes down to the individual when addressing topics like this. I may have met a lot of good willed servicemen in my time but that doesn't mean that I haven't met the shitbags that exist in the military. I dunno, I guess I just lucked out with meeting the right people. I also would like to point out that no one enlisted is innocent of being a raging dick. It just sorta happens if that makes any sense. I deserved the "wall to wall counseling" I got and I'll always own up to that just as many of my battle buddies would. Military life is just, well...chaotic. It's crazy and full of fucked up moments but it's rewarding too. I like to describe the relationship between the military and the individuals in it as a love/hate sort of deal. We love what we do but we hate it at the same time. There are a lot of liberals to though. I myself never paid it much attention though because to everyone I was with we all just saw each other as family and left things at that.
