It's unclear to me whether the ban is on people who are actively transitioning, which I don't think many would argue with as it's a costly, lengthy and non-urgent medical process; or on anyone who identifies as transgender regardless of what steps they've taken in the process. If it's the latter the point of this article is to show that transgender people are capable at functioning at the highest levels of service despite the stress caused by their situation.
