I feel like I'm having a stroke every time I read about blackface on reddit. It is easily one of the dumbest conversations that sjws have on reddit, and that's saying something. It is astounding how many people actually seem to fail to logic out anything they say when it comes up.
So let's get this straight. Blackface, according to reddit, is when white people wear black make up and that's racist. The problem here is that blackface is a performance. The whole reason that blackface is racist is because it is accompanied by exaggerated stereotypical features-e.g., comically huge lips/nose, and then the performer in question acts like a racist caricature of black people. Black make up is, in fact, the least important part of blackface, unless you believe that it is racist to depict black people as...being black. Black face paint alone means nothing. Alone it's blackface without the racism so not really blackface. People actually just reeee about random shit white people do without even knowing why. It's so obvious yet so common.
Edit: The irony is the one comment that links all the actual blackface as "blackface that is outright mockery." That's the whole fucking point. It must be mockery to be blackface in the first place. My fucking god.

Blackface is when light skin people darken their skin to match a costume, since apparently a Korean cosplayer darkening her skin to look like Sombra from overwatch, who's Mexican.
The problem is the historical context of black facepaint to depict a black person, in America. It's associated with minstrel shows, and it probably won't lose that association for centuries.
It's why you have stuff like that Japanese impressionist doing "blackface" to impersonate Louie Armstrong, without much controversy, but if someone did the same in America, it would be unacceptable.
