Tiger energy drink boycotted in Poland after mocking its history

31  2017-08-19 by ArmOfMidas

Beginning

It all starts with THIS posted on their instagram.

Translation: "1st August - fuck what happened, what's imporant is what will happen"

1st August, 1944 - it was the date Warsaw Uprising started

.

.

It was not first time Tiger posted something like this, the page seemed to be run by some edgy teenager that targeted his age group. Another example:

  • LINK
Translation: "10th of April, Day of Aeuronatics (or aircraft) - We're flying, not sleeping!"
10th April, 2010 - Polish plane with president on board crashes.

As of now, all their posts on social media were deleted and there's only an apology. I found this though

Apology

As an apology, Tiger gave 500k PLN (~140k $) for organization that helps Warsaw Uprising rebels

Money cures even the most hardened moralists.

I'm conflicted. I feel like this was the work of a (((certain people))) because it appears to be mocking Nationalism, but they also by mocking uprising appear to be taking a side that a (((certain people))) naturally wouldn't.

But either way the marketing team should be shot into the sun. How could you fuck this up so badly? I'm pretty sure average person anywhere knows that Poland is a very nationalistic country almost Ultra-Nationalists.

I wouldn't really say it's some planned attack, just some teenager who tried to be edgy and didn't think about consequences. Person behind it used slang spoken by middle schoolers which just looked cringy (as much as i hate that word, it's really appropariate here)

So an actual company just put some random teen in charge of their social media?

It's just my speculation. Marketing company (J. Walter Thompson Group Poland) just said that 2 people were fired, no information about them at all

I suspect it was a 45-year-old man who is trying to be edgy and current.

Poland is a very nationalistic country almost Ultra-Nationalists

How can some people be so proud for being born in a shithole that hasn't accomplished anything in the grand scheme of things? And I am greek cypriot for fuck's sake.

Also stop using (((this))). Everyone knows poles and jews are gas chamber bros.

So basically, Poland can dish it out, but can't take it?

LOL @ Poland. You just aren't a great or important enough a country to be acting like this.

How can they dish it out? Nobody is intimidated by polacks

Poland is one of those countries that is so delusional, they don't even realize how hilariously irrelevant and inept they are. R/polandball should have been a strong hint.

I don't understand what that has to do with anything in the thread?

You're saying consumers shouldn't boycott things they find distasteful?

This is the equivalent of Red Bull posting on January 28th "Red Bull gives you wings -- too bad the Challenger crew didn't have it on board"

They will never into space

Poland is one of those countries that is so delusional, they don't even realize how hilariously irrelevant and inept they are.

Are you fucking retarded? Poland is the regional power in the ex-soviet nation bloc, and is a leading nation similar to Italy.

Leading Nations of Europe --> Germany/France/UK/Italy/Poland/Spain

Any country bragging that it's just below Italy really is in trouble.

I'm loving this drama, bae.

lol

Im dumb, i read OP i still don't know what the controversy is about. Something about the warsaw uprising and energy drinks. Someone explain.

Energy drink company based in Ultra-Nationalist Poland decided that the best way to market their drink was to insult various things that are considered to be sources of National Pride.

I still dont get why? I don't the the message in the ad. What's it trying to portray? Im comfused someone help me. Right now. 😡

I don't speak Polish or really know much about their history. So its lost on me as well. But I think you're over-thinking it. It doesn't make sense because it was a fucking retarded decision, hence why they deleted everything and got fired for it.

Warsaw Uprising was resistance of Poles aganist invaders. Poland was nonexistant at that time.

I know what the Warsaw Uprising is, but im confused at what in the world it has to do with energy drinks. What is the message here? Im so confused AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH 😭

Edgy marketing team decides to be too edgy; causes a bunch of people to REEE and boycott the company.

tl;dr - Everyone is an idiot.

He just said: the energy drink company mocked the occasion in their advertisements along with a bunch of other things.

Are you legit retarded?

Is it any of your business if I was?

Energy drink said they were more important than the uprising

unrelated, but seeing this website being posted here: please visit http://www.wykop.pl/

it's like digg plus a ton of salt and with no self-awareness at all, it's just people tripping over their two feet, writing elaborate stories about it and blaming germans for all that happened

hmm, so what does Polandball think of all this?

I am of outraged

Y'kno, even I, autist as I am, understand that taking the piss out of nazi massacres and air disasters might be a bad marketing.
