Now if the same person goes out and does the same thing without my company name attached to him (again, so his actions don’t effect my business) then I may really not like that person, but it would not make me fire that person.
You can see the difference here right? You have freedom of speech, but so does your employer, and the message they want to put out to the world may be different than yours and that’s ok. If, however, you use tools given to you by your employer to say things your employer disagrees with and may very well hurt their business, they have every right to fire you, as they’re just trying to run a business and you’re hindering them from reaching their goal.
