It's really going to take masterful writing to make a strong female lead to is both acceptable to the pushers and entertaining. The challenge is that entertaining, well written characters must have a deep balance of strengths and weaknesses that fight to drive each decision. However, once you even hint at a weakness in a female lead, whoa buddy does twitter light up like a christmas tree. I don't envy hollywood writers right now.
