My wife is not a good cook at all really. My mom is a much better cook although I don't say that to her, I have tried to like her cooking and I just can't, although she has gotten a little better.

Okay so she made this type of casserole thing that she found on pininterest. She spent hours preparing it (unknown to me) and looking up the recipe.

So I got home from work, she told me "I just fixed up something for you honey and just set your plate". Well I tried it, and really didn't like it that much so I ate little. I told her I wasn't feeling for that, and remember we had a strawberry cake in the fridge so I went to grab it. I put myself a slice, few minutes later she just throws the cake in my face, calling me an insensitive jerk face (yes those exact words). She yelled and cried, and then went to comfort out 6 month old.

I mean I don't think I'm in the wrong I didn't like it at all, I tried too. I think she overreacted. Do I need to apologize or do anything? She's the one who got angry at me.

tl;dr: My wife isn't the best cook, she made this casserole tho she found online and I didn't like it. I started to eat this cake from the fridge and she threw it in my face and called me insensitive and a jerk.

The Victim Blaming is stong in this one

u/blushingflower so do you make it a habit of excusing domestic violence or is this a one time thing

Great bot

Welcome back buddy.

Wife with a kid. 100% chance /r/relationships blames the man, regardless of what the problem was.

lets be honest she could serve him still warm dog shit, he could eat some and then declare himself not fancying it and they would still think she had a right to push a knife into him

Seriously. Pregnant women and women who just had children are given a pass by that sub for everything.

Well come on, it's not fair to expect women to exercise self control, we all know they simply aren't capable.

That's why I stopped visiting the sub; any woman with prepubscent kids was given a complete pass for their behavior thanks to biotruths and mommy martyrdom. It's insufferable; why men even post there is beyond me. At this point the only people giving advice are miserable stay-at-home biddies and other projecting machines who are in toxic relationships themselves.

Someone needs to make a stay-at-home-dad role reversal in a couple months.

Absolutely

It's his fault for not staying in line, he should do more to make his wife less abusive.

Thats he consens of the thread yes

The top comment is pure /r/relationships and exactly what you'd expect.

The barest acknowledgement that the she shouldn't have thrown a fucking cake at him followed by 2 paragraphs about how it was actually his fault

They are a living parody of how not to behave as a decent human being.

Yeah, with a name like r/relationships I'd expect a halfway decent answer, like "while you could have worded it better, you aren't in the wrong for disliking a food. Next time, just acknowledge that someone tried their best to do something nice. Your wife, on the otherhand, reacted in an extreme fashion, physically throwing stuff at you then breaking down. Her reaction was NOT appropriate, and there may be something else going on, such as other underlying relationship problems or a personal mental health problem she may be having (BPD, deppression, etc) or extreme stress related to the baby."

But responses that you know, help the person's relationship is dumb, and r/relationships is about who to blame instead of fixing the obvious problems, amirite?

Fortunately u/dylanhate, u/sareneia, and u/bostonbob1987 are there representing for, you know, sanity.

Good on the three of you, doing your part to make r/relationships slightly less of an embarrassment.

Wait a week. Post exact story word for word except swap the roles of husband and wife, watch the drama unfold.

See if anyone takes the "he shouldn't have thrown cake at you but why did you make him mad?" position when it's a man throwing cake in his wife's face.

Women can't be expected to control their violent outbursts, it's not as if they're responsible for themselves the way men are. Girls will be girls don't you know.

They are prone to bouts of hysteria. That's why we have the menstrual hut

Even if you don't say anything to your wife, comparing her cooking to "Mommy's" cooking is a clear indicator of immaturity.

Tons of Freuds ITT.

I mean as if throwing cake isnt immature

Maybe if he did it in person but not on reddit. Your mom not a very good cook?

So do you not know how quoting on reddit works or do you not know how sarcasm works?

Wrong person. Chill the fuck out yo.

Learn to post correctly retard, and then I won't need to.

Holy shit dude. I hope things turn around for you.

Why? You totally replied to the wrong person

Oh man you sure got me.

I'm not trying to "get" you, I just don't see why you're so upset I accidentally quoted you.

  1. You didn't quote me.

  2. I think it takes a real retard to talk shit mistakenly and when someone sasses back to say "Chill the fuck out yo"

Therefore I must be dealing with a real retard. Simple really.

It is a pretty weird thing to bring up. And well I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with a psycho bitch who solves her problems by throwing food I also wouldn't want to be with someone who couldn't understand that shitting on your so's hardwork like that is pretty damn thoughtless. He thinks it's just about the food and he is pretty dumb if he can't see beyond that surface.

Not really. It's likely the only other reference point he has.

Restaurants, his own cooking, friends cooking? This random mention of his moms cooking does kind of imply some greater comparison of his SO with Mom unless he still regularly visits his mom and eats the food which is also possible. And again the guy is already pretty emotionally dumb to not see how going "I don't like it" and grabbing a piece of cake when she worked hard on it for hours is tactless, for him to have some unsolved mommy issues on top isn't a stretch for me.

Restaurants are not normally comparable to home cooked food. None of my friends cook either.

Throwing a cake at you in anger was not good. Hopefully your wife recognizes this and apologizes. But it seems like maybe this was the end result of a lot of bottled up feelings. Some questions 1) How often do you cook?

How many pinterest meals do you make huh? How bad are they huuuuuh? How often do you leave your wife standing there covered in frosting looking like she wandered onto a three stooges set huh!?

if there ws frosting involved it could only go wrong

the fact that you capitalized the P made this post hard to read

SoRrY

If you don't know how to cook you should go ahead and KYS. And to be clear when I say "know how to cook" I don't mean sliding a Totinos in the oven. Also if you regularly "try things off pinterist" you should neck yourself post haste.

You don't have to be a Chef but ffs you should be able to cook something that is appealing and palatable.

It's pretty incredible how many people under the age of 80 don't know how to cook. It's one of the great joys of life.

Also, post your best recipe

Simple as fuck, heat a table spoon of oil in a pan, preferably not crude oil but w/e floats your boat
wash and chop a red potato however you like
cut up a garlic clove, fresh garlic is the shit when cooking
drop em in the pan and listen to sizzle a bit
salt the fuck out of it, throw some pepper in there if ya like
whisk a couple eggs like they owe you money
stir the potato's occasionally. flipping them and keeping them should take a few minutes afters eggs are fucked up
once you've almost lost to the urge to start eating out of the pan pour in the eggs and fry em till their done
empty your delicious pile of nom into a giant tortilla and add cheese
stare at it until it cools long enough to gorge yourself

That sounds like a bretty gud hangover meal

Tested and confirmed saturday morning. A followup test is scheduled a similar time next saturday.

Here's my marinade and cooking recipe for skirt steak.

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 3 medium cloves garlic, finely minced (about 1 tablespoon)

Marinade minimum of 1 hour up to overnight.

Pre-Heat grill to maximum hotness (5-10 min). Place skirt steak on grates so you get nice grill lines. Close lid and leave it alone for 5 minutes. Flip it over, using the other part of the grates you hadn't previously used (so you get nice grill marks). Close lid leave for 3-5 minutes.

Remove from grill, place on cutting board and let sit for 5 minutes before slicing (cut against the grain of the meat).

Huh, didn't even know that you could grill skirt steak given how tough it is. Gonna have to try this sometime, it sounds really good.

Best cut for fajitas. Also the pineapple juice helps to tenderize the meat.

Done right you'll have a nice char on the outside and it'll be tender and juicy on the inside.

Good to know, don't eat much beef so don't have much experience with stuff like this.

Soy sauce w/ steak master race

slow cooker pot roast

  • 1 can of golden mushroom soup
  • 2 cans of tomato paste
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2-3 carrots, chopped
  • 1 chuck roast

put chuck roast in crock pot

also put all the other shit in there

set crock pot to medium and cook for approx 8-10 hours

at approx 6 hours, you can add multiple, but uniform in size, red potatoes

the MEAT should separate really well

eat with white foam bread

it's good

it's probably really bad for you tho

This is a lazy ass recipe, but it sounds like great comfort food.

it's damn lazy and if you don't do it right, it tastes like blood, which I love

churched up wt casserole

  • cook up 1lb ground meat (i like pork, but beef works too)
  • add packet of taco seasoning
  • mix in can of cream of mushroom
  • put it in your 9x13 casserole dish
  • cover with tots (i like to do half regular, half sweet potato)
  • cover with shredded smoked gruyere, cheddar, and smoked provolone
  • bake at 350 until cheese starts to brown
  • serve with hot sauce to taste

Tear apart fennel so you get little ships, boil them for ten minutes, fill with whatever you like, cover with some cheese, bake until it looks edible.

I tried cooking once

If you want to know how much I hated it, I literally just ate half a box of raw spaghetti

/u/melkorkerin why are you normalising abuse? The man was domestically assaulted over something he did/said. Gender flip it for a second. If a man threw some shit at a woman I'm sure you'd be screeching about "CALL THE COPS"

You're a sexist pig. I sincerely hope you only have cats

I mean, if OP wasn't so rude about her cake by not eating it, he wouldn't have been physically abused. He deserves it really

Which one of you autists will post us a gender swapped version in 3 months?

Remind me in 3 months and maybe I will

I just posted the exact same post but with the genders reversed

yea and fucked up too see thru

meh, it was low effort but worth the try. post got locked within 30 minutes anyway

it made your point look stupid. It didnt help anyone.
