Yeah, but I think there is a difference between a idiot who is like "Heh, I'm here with all my angry friends, time to LARP it up in the park." vs. "I'm wearing my arm band in public solo screaming at random people because I am a literal retard."
He was just practicing his peaceful right to sympathize with an ideology that calls for the ethnic cleansing of billions and shout obscenities at strangers!
It doesn't really matter that he's advocating genocide because there is no chance of it actually happening. Nazis have no social or political power and they don't have any plan on how to commit genocide. They're all talk.
He's advocating violence but you'd have to be an idiot to feel threatened by him. Sure morally he deserves to be punched but practically there's a lot of reasons why you shouldn't hit him.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I'm not one to advocate violence as a first resort but I also won't shed any tears for someone who was stupid enough to think that wearing a Nazi Party armband in public was even remotely a good idea.
He's advocating violence but you'd have to be an idiot to feel threatened by him.
Maybe, but imo somebody who is openly sympathizing with an organization who committed genocide and is harassing random people because they're minorities shouldn't be too surprised that somebody would feel threatened and take action. How would you feel if you saw someone on the bus waving an ISIS flag calling a group of strangers kaffirs who deserve the wrath of Allah? Would you be surprised or offended if somebody intercepted them somehow?
It doesn't really matter that he's advocating genocide because there is no chance of it actually happening.
Well they do, the plans are just retarded. They also do have a decent and growing amount of political power, as they're doing a great job scooping up disaffected young boys. But most importantly, in terms of optics this is pretty nice for the left. The guy was wearing a nazi armband and shouting obscenities at minorities for hours. Through social media, he was accosted by antifa, knocked out, and lying there until cops scooped him up and noted that he was instigating things. This is about as good as it gets for the left, because the guy was unambiguously a nazi sympathizer, and almost everyone in America hates the nat-zis. If this were a proud boy or teapartier or whatever then it could have been a disaster, but this idiot made it clear that he wanted to be a part of the party who had hopes of wiping entire ethnicities off the face of the earth. And so he got punched, and not many people will be too broken up about it.
Again it's not about whether or not he morally deserved to be hit.
Any growing social or political power they have is because of incidents like this. Yes this time it was an actual nazi but a lot of the time it isn't. All the incidents of people who definitely aren't nazis getting attacked have helped strengthen nazis. In fact they've done more than neo-nazis have done for themselves in their entire history.
The only reason to hit people like this is because "durr nazis bad" and you can't stop yourself from attacking someone because they have a disgusting ideology even though it's a bad move on multiple levels.
Whenever this argument comes up most people advocating for punching nazis have a thoughtless emotional response which you should never do regardless of how horrible something is.
On an individual level I think it reflects poorly on someone when they can't stop themselves from hitting these nazis despite how weak, ineffectual and overall non-threatening they are. On a wider scale attacking people for their ideology sets all sorts of bad precedents. You can't say it's only ok to attack nazis and no one else because, for example, there's definitely an argument to be made that if it's ok to attack nazis then it should be ok to attack commies.
People really need to just ignore them. It's not that hard.

Agreed for the most part. The far left has been fucking up pretty hard in terms of targeting liberals and moderate right-wing people, and every time they do so, they just push moderates further to the right. I'm at a point where I'm not sure how I feel about violence towards open, confirmed white nationalists, though. imo it's a lot more effective to do forms of community activism like literature drops and online campaigns, and most leftist violence/destruction of property looks terrible for the left, but in cases like these, where the guy is clearly a nazi sympathizer looking for trouble, it probably doesn't hurt the cause too much if somebody punches them. Wearing a swastika armband in public is something that would have gotten you beaten up without controversy a decade ago and earlier. ime most conservatives are more than happy to see it happen too. So I guess we agree for the most part. The left has a huge PR problem, but in this case and others like it, it doesn't seem to be an issue.
When I hear about people punching Nazis I am hearing about some public service that someone else is doing for me. It's something I don't have to do. It's like hearing about someone picking up litter or kicking a child.
I feel like there are a ton of people who are attempting to justify violence to take away other people's rights. People have a right to say whatever they want, and they have a right to be safe doing so.
We as a people agreed to tolerate all types of speech, that's what the first amendment is for.
We should not tolerate all actions, however, which is why we have a military and police force to stop intolerable actions.
Who am I kidding, it's probably all professional millenial victims who are sad because they don't have a real cause to fight for. I say this as a millenial.
Let's be honest with ourselves here. The guy was wandering around with a Nazi armband and harassing people. It was only a matter of time before someone got sick of his shit.
