Is it just me, or is /r/relationships full of LARPing about Mary Sues standing up to their imaginary lovers for virtue-signalling points (we *all* know this is not real, as if a girl would ever throw away a relationship for politics)?

every time I get summoned here, I have a quick look around and find that this place gets worse and worse, it's like a black hole which mangles everything that gets sucked into it. src

most submissions to /r/relationships made by anonymous throwaways belong either on /r/ThatHappened, or /r/Drama.

EDIT: It seems all you have to do to get a post removed and locked from /r/relationships is post it on /r/Drama.

can we have snappy do this automatically then

it'd be like a public service

It is not you. Most of r/relationships is just plain trolling/LARPing, and it's kind of funny how many people take those posts at face value.

They are LARPing, but I really don't think many of them are trolling, if that would imply that they don't actually believe what they say (although probably a not insignificant portion of the OPs are trolling).

Actual LARPers who run around in fields dressed as wizards of course know that they're only acting out a fantasy and that none of it is real. /r/relationships commenters are acting out (or rather typing out) a fantasy, but they're generally unaware that it's not real and that real life is far more complicated than they imagine it to be.

It's like when I was in high school and one of the popular kids invited me to a pool party. But when I showed up it turned out they just wanted me there so they could make fun of me for having a chest indentation and then spray me with a water gun full of piss. That's when I started writing my Harry Potter fanfic, "Harry Potter and the Basement of Romance," in which Harry is bullied by Ron until Harry starts going to the gym and getting buff, so that he can seduce Ginny and have sex with her in his parent's basement, where it's generally cold enough that it wouldn't be weird if he kept his shirt on so Ginny didn't realize he has a chest indentation. After that Ginny tells Ron that he has to stop bullying Harry because actually Harry is not a gaylord, he's just dark and mysterious and misunderstood. Once everyone at Hogwarts hears that Harry porked Ginny they all agree that Harry is not a gaylord anymore and actually it's Ron who's the gaylord because his sister is a slut.

But irl I didn't go to the gym or fuck my bully's sister or do anything like that. And if I did I would of course have absolutely no need to go about fantasizing like I did. In fact I kept hanging out with the kids who bullied me because I didn't want to eat lunch at the nerd table anymore, and I thought that if I was a good sport about it all they might accept me and then I might be able to get a gf. I just pretended like I was in Jackass and we were a group of cool skater kids who pranked each other, even though they only pranked me and I wasn't allowed to prank them.

But anyways so the moral of the story is that people who go online and write absurd fantasies about how their personal lives might be if they're weren't fat/ugly/lazy are only doing it because they're too fat/ugly/lazy to change. Therefore, all /r/relationships posters are fat/ugly/lazy cat ladies who probably got sprayed with a piss water gun in highschool, and that's why they are the way that they are.

Wow

Redditors are full of shit on that one. I'd wager the majority of them are describe somewhat real experiences from their own perspective.

Reddit thinks nothing ever happens (particularly if it reflects poorly on women, it can't have happened), but that's due to youth, inexperience, autism and childish beliefs about members of the opposite sex. It has nothing to do with reality. At best, it can be put down to 'just world' fallacies (this can't be real because I don't want it to be!).

is /r/relationships full of men LARPing as Mary Sues standing up to their imaginary lovers for virtue-signalling points

FTFY

Just like here is all (((boys))) LARPing as crypto-nazis.

I larp as a south park neutral.

No, LARPing involves "live action."

unironically calling out virtue signaling

You've got half the sporting world damaging their career prospects over politics. It's no shock at all that someone would implode a far less valuable life over it.
