An actual professor there with a Ph.D. literally publishes an academic paper called "Politically incorrect participatory media: racist nationalism on r/ImGoingToHellForThis." Lmao.

But go in there a little deeper and you see something

"The post was submitted under the neo-Nazi username European88 by a reddit user later revealed to be a young Jewish man living in Florida who also impersonated a White supremacist and a Jihadist and was later arrested for encouraging terrorism (Moyer, 2015; PhysicsIsMyMistress, 2015)."

This is the thread they're citing: Redditor European88 is arrested by the FBI for pretending to be high profile Jihadist online and turns out to be an American Jew. The subreddits he frequented and the Metasphere react.

That's it people, there's an academic paper that has the word "PhysicsIsMyMistress" in it twice. What is this timeline.

Interestingly, after PIMM had done that, I looked myself up, because I remembered having read some third-rate news website cited my username in a post I made. I didn't find that news site, but what I found instead was a book had cited a MetaSubredditDrama post I'd made when /u/totes_meta_bot had stopped their bot.

/u/TotesMessenger, my bot, was also mentioned. The book is about social bots online and their interactions, entitled Socialbots and Their Friends: Digital Media and the Automation of Sociality.

There is something weird about knowing that an article that is primarily about a topic that is about people's actual jobs cites some reddit post made by a relatively obscure user.
