no, in this case it's relevant. Arena is a soccer nativist and doesn't like calling in guys who are playing in Europe even though their leagues are better than MLS.
i played soccer (thank god for the commonality of language otherwise pedantic fucks like you would just be confused) growing up and so I've tried to enjoy professional soccer, I really have, but when you base over half your sport around faking out falls for free kicks you lose me fast
I'm with you on the bullshit "falling down at the slightest tap", it's killing football. High school football was far more brutal than what these suffer and we kept getting up till we actually broke bones.
I also don't apologise for the pedantic's. Stop fucking up the English language. Everybody else can master it, why can't you?
it's almost like different countries can sometimes have different words for the exact same thing. but honestly, if the word soccer is enough of a bastardization of english to bother you I suggest you steer clear of hip hop, hell steer clear of the next generation all together
Why do Brits have such a hard time understanding there's an entire planet outside of their country while also pretending to speak for that entire planet? They must pump xenophobia into the water supply.
This drama was so interesting that I clicked on the link, then got distracted and pulled two exceptionally long hairs out of my right eyebrow, then came back and posted this comment.
Lmao fucking mayos. Get some MELANIN KINGS AND QUEENS like Altidore and the USA will win. Instead of choosing a silky chocolate man like McKennie you went for that bald cracker Michael Bradley
Poor people in the US typically play basketball or football, whereas in the UK or most of Europe, they play soccer on concrete slabs. It's pretty simply a cultural difference.
Poor people in the US typically play basketball or football, whereas in the UK or most of Europe, they play soccer on concrete slabs. It's pretty simply a cultural difference.
True, there's also the fact that youth clubs in the US cost an arm and leg, which is why poor kids are typically forced out of soccer. Look up Clint Dempsey's struggle to make it in soccer, his parents were trailer trash rednecks who couldn't pay for his club so other parents chipped in.
The US system has been failing because of the insistence to use MLS players over dual-nationals or kids who went to go play overseas (like pulisic)
Arena has called in several European based players and even the dual nationals like Brooks and Johnson. It's true that he prefers MLS guys but frankly I don't see anything wrong with more representation for MLS at the national team level. That's how you build a soccer culture in the States.
Also, we were playing fucking Trinidad. Their best striker Kenwyne Jones has been sitting on the bench for Atlanta this season and is way past it. Their entire team besides Joevin Jones and Kevin Molino wouldn't be good enough for MLS clubs. Not to mention that MLS has helped other countries in the region. In the WC qualification games today, Roman Torres, Johan Venegas, and Alberth Elis all are MLS players who scored, effectively helping knock out the US.
The whole of the USSF needs to be revamped from the top down
Agreed, USSF is in shambles. If Arena and Gulati aren't fired tomorrow and hopefully exiled to the moon or some shit I'm gonna be fucking livid.
Also it's cool that you're a soccer fan. I've seen you 'round these parts for a while and I always thought of you as some Trump supporter who would probably think soccer was for gay eurocucks or whatever.
Naw I'm a Chelsea man and have been so since Andriy Shevchenko and Drogba. That shit gets me riled up. The US "pay to play" shit in soccer is bs. Our kids typically can't find a place to play for free after first or second grade. With football and basketball? Youth leagues all day!
As an aside to the MLS: it's done a better job building up non-US concacaf players than it has for us, which is awesome for the sport but shitty for USMNT.
Also, I'll guarantee you, bar everything else, Klinnsman doesn't lose to T&T on the final day.
never thought I'd meet another Chelsea fan on fucking /r/drama out of all places. I remember the Drogba days all too well.
And yeah pay to play is absolute shit. Other countries' poor kids are naturally drawn to soccer because it's the only way out of poverty, while the pay to play system here makes it impossible for anyone but middle class and above kids to make it. Even the POCs on our national team like Altidore came from middle class suburban backgrounds.
Handegg isn't a real sport either. It's just Amerifats wearing tights bumping into each other while there's a Budweister commercial every five seconds.
Australia is in a shit conference to be honest. Real soccer happens in Europe and the Americas. Also don't waste time trying to bait on me of all people, my team won the Euros defeating frogs on their own home turf.

We've just been shit the last four years. The coach Bruce Arena is essentially a soccer version of Trump

You think Arena is bad, look at the dumpster fire that is the Galaxy after he left
