Some guys got their asses beaten for not wearing "manly" clothes or being masculine enough. People are often ostracized for being trans. Trolls and harassers used the movement as justification and cover for their actions, but they weren’t really directly related. The FBI investigated, and Gamergate was found to have little to nothing do with the harassment and threats.
