Looks like they're about to "jump the shark" with this campaign by letting in unsubstantiated allegations fueled by personal grudges. I downloaded the file to see if Joss Whedon was listed. I haven't heard much about him since the initial news broke and I'm wondering if it's because feminists realized that the allegations against him were weak a.f.
Looking at the list and going off the affiliations (I didn't recognize most of the names) at least part of the what I took to be the narrative around the list falls apart. The meta-lesson: that it's problematic that women feel the system has failed them and that they need an informal network to protect themselves holds up. But the specific promise of this list: to expose the know sex predators in media is clearly wrong. As you pointed out, it's really a list of grievances including sexual and non-sexual. Second it seems to me that it's pretty narrow in terms who contributed and as a result is constrained to the "social network" of whomever started the list. In retrospect it makes sense: I wouldn't expect someone who went to school on the east coast and worked at east coast mainstream media companies to be part of social networks that women in Hollywood or even the right wing media belong to.
That's probably because he didn't. If you look carefully at his ex's letter it says:
"Joss admitted that for the next decade and a half, he hid multiple affairs and a number of inappropriate emotional ones that he had with his actresses, co-workers, fans and friends, while he stayed married to me."
Note that Kai Cole very deliberately conflates affairs and 'emotional affairs' before then invoking 'actresses, co-workers, fans and friends'. The point of this is to lead us to the conclusion that he had affairs with actresses without actually saying that. He could have simply slept with friends and had what Cole perceived to be 'inappropriate emotional' attachments to actresses, co-workers and fans and that statement would still technically be true.
To be frank, since she started her letter trying to claim the credit for the Buffy TV series (something even Joss says wasn't his idea) and then so painstakingly constructs her allegations to be - at least potentially - misleading, added to the fact that not one single other person has spoken out about this, I'm gonna remain sceptical.
Hollywood, media, and politics are where socials, parties, and casting couches have continued to pave careers despite the rise of ethics training. Looks like that eras coming to an end, and the promulgators are finally getting their comeuppance with no place to hide. Let's see if the likes of Bill Clinton and Donald Trump's accusers will get their proper due.
