Hi all,

In the interests of full transparency we wanted to let our users know about a couple of changes happening in /r/Drama. As some of you may know, as moderators we have a variety of tools we have developed to allow us to run this subreddit, above and beyond normal Reddit moderation tools. We have an automated system to allow us to manage the snapshill bot we all love to watch, tools to collect and appropriately deal with all your confidential information used as proof for an upcoming doxx, and vaious other tools to manage the vast amount of email and modmail we get 24 hours a day.

For many of these services we are able to use a limited free tier, or are recieving donated credits to use (Thanks incels.org!). However, some of them we have no choice but to pay for out of our own pockets as moderators. This often costs us more than $50 a month as a team.

In order to help cover the cost of these services, we have just launched a Patreon page. This will allow our biggest lolcows to donate a dollar or two a month to help pay for the services we use, and maybe even allow us to expand to even cooler features like /u/ed_butteredtoast notification emails, countdown pages, and who knows what other ideas! It will also give us a spot to share /u/botchlings alts news, behind-the-scenes stories, and find some beta-cucks for new features. This is a transparency post rather than a post asking you for money, so if you do want to help us out, please keep yourselves safe.

To be clear, 100% of all funds gathered will be used to improve the top moderator of /r/Drama's lifestyle. The other moderators will not be accepting a single dime of these donations for themselves - it's all going towards developing this subreddit into something even more special.

We'd also like to make it clear that giving us a donation won't let you buy a mod position, we're taking steps to insulate ourselves from knowing who actually donates in order to keep it that way.

Money gathered and spent through this system will be reported to all of you through regular mod posts like this - we'll tell you how much money we collect and where we spend it.

EDIT: To be clear, we're not threatening to stop moderating if you don't pay up. If we can't raise the money to cover the costs from you guys, we'll have to seek foreign investors such as Russia, Soros, or ISIS affiliates. Would just be nice to have some help. If a couple hundred of you gave a dollar each we'd have plenty of money to purchase a Canon C200 or lease a new Toyota Land Cruiser. I picked your child up from school and he's safely in my possession. Make the right choice.
