u/SuperUW are you normally this retarded

Did you ping the wrong person? That person us saying to give you then hearing aids. Which is obviously the right thing to do.

Right, he probably meant EllieTheVantas

Cochlear implants =/= hearing aids

Most Deaf people do not have issues with hearing aids.

Still. Should be implanted on anybody who is born deaf, and not wait for the baby to grow up so he can decide.

The problem is that it doesn't always work. Would you have surgery for a procedure that had a low success rate, carried some risks associated with the surgery itself, and required your parents and you to conduct hours of auditory and speech training?

Some deaf people are great candidates. Others are not.

One can be successful, independent, and thriving without hearing.

Yeah but EllieTheVantas is implying is that even if the baby was a great candidate, she would not perform the hearing surgery on her baby, but instead, she would wait till the baby is grown to decide for himself.

I never said you Deaf people are not successful, independent, thriving. But the first 3/4 years are crucial for someone’s life, and being able to hear in those first years can make a huge impact in someone’s life.

Her baby. Her decision.

poor baby

If she (the mother) is Deaf and uses ASL, not really. The baby will have a full life, be raised in a culture with traditions, and have access to their world.

As opposed to a child who is constantly missing information and constantly left out because everybody expects them to hear and speak.

Are you also offended by the term “Hearing Impaired”?

a culture with traditions, and have access to their world.

God I hate deaf people. Everything about this statement is shit and why most normal people despise you as well. Every deaf person I've had the displeasure of coming into contact with has this chip on their shoulder, like they're this superior race and hearing people are scum and "just don't get it." Even the normal people who help the hearing impaired are shit on by them for no other reason than they can hear shit.

Every deaf person I've had the displeasure of coming into contact with has this chip on their shoulder

I really hope this is just a retarded Western thing, I know a deaf guy in Saudi Arabia with cochlear implants, he plays games with voice comms fine and goes to normal uni, I've never heard of this "deaf culture" bs from him.

I've temporarily misplaced my scorecard, but I think that's "Deaf culture" and don't you forget the capital D.

The baby should receive puberty blockers until xe can determine xirs own gender.

Might as well poke out it's eyes and leave it blind, deaf, and gender neutral...

Pre-natal testing + mandatory abortion for all trans

/u/elliethevantas You're a fucking retard for choosing to be disabled.

u/EllieTheVantas what's it like knowing you are all gonna get genetically engineered out of existence in like 50 years.

Can't find the article, but I read somewhere that there are deaf people who hate these implants because they don't want deaf culture to die
