A long time ago I was playing Widowmaker in quickplay, it was when I first picked her up but I wasn't too terrible with her. The whole game I had silver eliminations (I think it ended up being around 28?) and there were 3 guys - one who was on his own, the other two were grouped together - who began to say the shittiest stuff to me. They weren't even all grouped up but because ONE of them started, the rest just HAD to join in and bully me just for being a girl. Silly me spoke back asking why they were being so mean, and they said the usual sexist stuff, oh get back in the kitchen, you're a dumb feminist bitch, oh that's a chick? I thought it was a dude lol etc. Funny thing is, one of them was playing Lucio and bragging that he had gold elims and telling me to actually fucking kill someone (even though I was clearly in the killfeed at the time killing ppl lol) and it wasn't until after the game that I realized something; he was bragging about having gold and that I wasn't doing enough while the other guys were shit-talking me but how come when Lucio had gold and I had silver why was I the only one being made fun of? Why wasn't he blaming the rest of the team that had bronze medals or no medals at all? Either way, that ruined my day, and I hate to admit it but I cried a lot after that game and stopped playing for a while. It really discouraged me, and yes, I could have muted them, but I was just SO shocked that I was being harrassed for literally no reason other than picking a "non meta" hero. Now I never have team chat turned on in QP. I only have it on for comp as it's necessary. Not that I don't still get toxicity there though!
