Dosage even a little bit too high or low? Congrats, you run a major risk of having growth stunted for life, brain developmental problems and glandular issues.

You're right about the self-medication part, though. I'm not sure how to handle that one.
I self medicated for quite a while. A lot of the struggle was my PCP wasn't able to help me at all with trans stuff. Your daughter probably knows all of this, but for your knowledge:
Spironolactone's to be taken with food, best if done in 2 or 3 times a day increments, and is a potassium-sparing diuretic. Make sure root-vegetables, canned tomatoes, and citrus aren't eaten in excess or are paired with a teeny bit more salt.
Estrodiol's to be taken orally as spread out as possible to ensure that the body's absorption limit of 2 mg estrogen per (2-3) hours isn't broken. Sublingually is fine as well and might be better for the liver.
With both meds, it's important to drink alcohol responsibly. Almost every trans girl I know can't hold more than 2 standard drinks an hour easily.
I took these incorrectly and had hyperkalemia, massive mood swings, poor feminization results, and wild blood pressure. If she follows those rules, however, she'll probably be just fine. A consistent and balanced diet, exercise, and sleep schedule will do wonders as well.
