How can you even be a communist Muslim? If your beliefs actually lined up with Islamic scripture, most communists would consider you a reactionary. You're already seeing the homophobia present in that thread, and that's pretty common amongst most Muslims. The same goes for transphobia. If a Christian said those things, they'd (rightfully) be labeled as reactionaries. But Islam is a brown people religion, so it's okay!

Seeing that you're a convert, I have no idea if you know how common those sentiments are, but in your average Muslim community, you'll encounter them left and right.

Why do people keep saying this? A lot of Muslims speak English, even in Asia and Africa. Just because you speak English doesn't mean you're liberal, how retarded are you? And someone dedicating time to posting on a religious forum is likely to be a lot more religious than someone who isn't. There's probably tons of Muslims on reddit who don't comment in r/Islam, especially because of its reputation. I'd say that sub is a lot less liberal than most Muslims I've met who are in reddit's demographic.

Reddit is in the top 10 most visited sites in the world; most people don't vote and comment on things and those who do, don't necessarily contribute to liberal/left American politics subs like r/politics, r/lsc or whatever. Reddit also leans pretty heavily conservative on a lot of issues even on the defaults/regional subs, take r/news, r/worldnews, r/europe, or r/canada as examples. So I don't agree that using reddit means you're liberal. All it means is that you visit one of the most popular sites in the world.
