The only reason that girl would be legally considered a child is because the legal age of adulthood is arbitrarily set to 18. If it was 21, she’d be a child at 20. If it was 16 she’d be an adult at 17. Biologically, child generally means any age from birth to puberty; then pubescent , post-pubescent, and adulthood. Now, in this case, statutory rapist, maybe (unless it’s like a lot of US States and the age of consent is 17).
