Such a replacement framework might be difficult to generate. We have discussed how all rape is sex. But is all sex rape? Recall that at the beginning of this piece, we said that rape is central to gender oppression because it transforms the victim into a “being for another.” But as our argument developed, we saw that this is true, to some extent or another, of all sex. Is a distinction between rape and sex in general even meaningful? Some, notably the Maoist Internationalist Movement, have argued that all sex under patriarchy is in fact rape. On the other hand, we might find that there is some usefulness in denoting some distinction between the average heterosexual relationship and, say, sex trafficking. For now, we leave this an open question.

In sum, we hope that in revisiting what is sometimes called “sex negativity,” we can take steps forward in the effort to build a communist movement that is poised not only to overthrow the bourgeoisie, but also patriarchy.

GC is basically vulgar marxism except applied to gender instead of class. Part of the reason why they don't like trans people is because they literally want to abolish gender. They might not be the kind of left you or I prefer, but they are indeed a kind of extreme, fringe leftism.

Anyways this is all kind of retarded because it's a fools errand to think all political opinions can fit neatly into a simplistic, one-dimensional left-right scheme. All these debates really come down to is people asserting that this or that issue is the defining political issue around which all other issues must be organized. Which is more a point about the importance of trans issues that anything having to do with the left or the right as such.

The "there are no genders/there are 509000 genders" group are definitely not involved in the terf community. Being a terf entirely revolves around the idea that if you are born a woman, then you are a woman, and anything else is absolutely unacceptable.

Literally 30 seconds of searching brings up these two threads. When they say "born a woman" they mean born a biological female, not born with the gender identity of "woman." They follow the more mainstream tumblr/trans advocate crowd in thinking that there is a difference between sex and gender, but unlike the tumblr kids they think gender is both unnecessary and largely a bad thing. And they think trans women are men because they only recognize sex differences as legitimate. Hence the name gender critical.

Sometimes the tumblr crowd will claim "there is no gender" (although rarely imo), but they typically mean there is no rigid scheme, binary or otherwise, of gender categories. The whole idea with the tumblr kids is that gender is this completely open thing and you can be whatever gender you want. Which is quite different from thinking that gender is illegitimate as a category of a person's identity.

Trust me on this, I have a degree in English and was exposed to every kind of bizarre leftist opinion as a youth. GC's ideology is straight out of 70's and 80's radical feminism, which was often very explicit about applying (a version of marxism) to gender and sex differences.
