It's the playoffs for collages who American football programs, teams are ranked by a committee, and the top 4 play in the playoffs. Alabama lost a semi-important game to their rival Auburn. Alabama was hanging on to 5th until today, when they got pushed into 4th. There are a couple teams fighting for that spot, and everyone who wanted there team in fourth are mad.
Four teams get into playoff to win College Football Championship. A committee decides which four teams it is, using the criteria of choosing the best four teams in College Football (so its subjective, and also a somewhat new process). Their are five 'big' conferences, and 3 of the four teams in are the winners of their respective conferences. Bama got in over the Big 10 champion (Ohio State) and Pac-12 champion (USC). The Pac-12 champion not getting in was expected as no one in their conference really elevated themselves above the others. The drama is with Bama over Ohio State, as the Buckeyes (Ohio State) fans are disappointed to not get in. The ironic thing is that the Buckeyes got in over Penn State either last year, or the year before, when Penn State won the Big 10, so Bama over them is kinda karma. But also Bama's coach Nick Saban had criticized non-conference champions getting in, which is something his team now is.
Imagine that the Premier League, the Championship, League 1 (div 3) and League 2 in England were roughly equivalent in team skill.
At the end of the year, the top 2 in each of those divisions (called "conferences") play for the conference championship. This has its own bragging rights. However in college football, a national champion has to be decided. There is a ranking system of the top 25 teams and only the top 4 can advance into the playoffs to decide the championship. Alabama was number 5 going into yesterday's game, so they needed a top 4 team to lose to get a shot at the playoffs. However, behind Alabama was #8 Ohio State who beat the #4 team for their conference championship. Alabama did not get to participate in a conference championship.
The drama here is that a conference champ was left out of the playoff while a perennial favorite Alabama team was included in the playoff despite not winning a conference championship.
There are schools with huge, multi-million dollar American football programs. The state of Alabama, since it has nothing else to celebrate other than drooling over the pictures of their Klan parents hanging black people in 2013, wishing it could be them in those creamy white robes, instead of the 3 toothed, sister fucking retards collecting government welfare, bitching about Obama and socialism. They worship college football (presumably because they can fantasize about touching 18 year old boys in tights without the legal recourse or social taboo of them being 17 or younger).
So Alabama's premeire team is the Alabama "Crimson Tide" with a mascot of a slowly rising ocean fucking elephant, because why not. Anyway, the committee that completely objectively chooses just 4 of the 130 schools has one purpose: find a way to have Alabama play in the playoffs, no matter what. As you can tell, other teams don't like this much, but Alabama, through virtue of inbreeding, has a huge cult of retards that only exist to buy Alabama shit at Wal-Mart (where they work and get paid slave wages, collect welfare, and say socialism is going to ruin the world) demand their team gets in and the committee obliges because they secretly wish they could publicly support child molesters, instead of downloading kiddie diddling videos over the dark net.
lol at buttblasted Ohio State fans after their team got the exact same treatment last year that Bama is getting this year. And then they scored 0 points.
Dude, I know. It's not even like it was a close spread, it was just a straight-up spanking. I wasn't too terribly surprised, though, considering how Bama played against Mississippi State.
Tbh, a lot of people around here are getting disheartened with Gus. It took long enough for him to give up offensive playcalls to the offensive coordinator (y'know, the dude whose job it is), and the beginnings of our seasons are always clusterfucks. I don't know if a different coach would solve that problem, but it's looking like Gus will probably end up leaving in a season or two.
He actually played a little last night, but he didn't look too hot; he'll never admit it, but I'm pretty sure that's why he fumbled during the championship.

How did they get pushed to 4? Do they roll a dice or something?
1 wazzupnerds 2017-12-03
A couple of teams lost their games that would have solidified them in their spots.

It's all worth mentioning that strength of schedule plays s part in this, but Alabama's opponents were soft as baby shit

At least I can still be insufferably smug about the Iron Bowl.
