A First Step Towards Mayocide in the MtG community

Well, after a couple weeks the hammer has finally dropped and Wizards of the Coast has issues some bannings for safespace violations in the MtG community: See here and here. This sends the sub into its usual lockdown as noted cancermod /u/ubernostrum quickly waves the banhammer around on /r/magic in order to silence wrongthink before it's wrongthought. Despite this, however, the circlejerk is still broken somewhat by people who think that maybe just maybe the game's Code of Conduct should not be enforced at the whims of twitter SJW lynch mobs.
Expect all of this shit to be locked down / deleted within a couple hours when it's recognized that people are incapable of polite disagreement over the issue, with the only reasonable recourse being to simply ban all members of the wrong side permanently.
Also, here's some bonus MTG drama - a recent high-ranking judge apparently forgot that it's 2017 and used his station to actually make a pass at a woman at a Magic event. Of course not only is the community not allowed to inquire into more details, but in fact is explicitly told that they shouldn't expect sympathy for the judge being fucked out of his role because that will make the alleged victim upset. Maybe "listen and believe" should be written into the IPG?

I'm pretty excited about this. I've been following some magic stuff because of the drama last time. Personally I hope they all start reporting each other en mass and WOTC bans more and more people till it reaches a fever pitch and kills the game itself. It'll be great to read about how the cards are becoming more and more worthless and people abandoning the game and Hasbro losing millions of dollars.

Yep, one thing that's interesting here is that they didn't just ban the people who had been the subject of public ire, they apparently banned a bunch of shitposting randos as well. The message is pretty clear that if you piss off Twitter you'll be banned - we'll see how that works out for the game.
There's always this pretextual notion of "oh once we ban the stinky dudes from Magic than women and PoC will flood in and the game will have a golden age" that some people seem to actually believe, and we'll see how the predictable disappointment is dealt with when this doesn't happen and a bunch of numales have to explain to senior managers why they fanned the flames of a culture war in their customer base during a time of sluggish growth.
