You're not shit next to me. My genes are just light years superior to yours and I don't even need to look at you.

Top response is:

That officer was a fucking moron and just making shit up as he went along. If he was trained to give those commands then his department should be absorbed into a department that knows what the fuck they are doing.

Could OP perhaps be... an agendaposter??? 🤔🤔🤔

it got brigaded m8. vote totals were flipped earlier

Look at the number of comments from flaired officers though. The amount that are calling out the officers in the video outnumber the ones that are defending them.

The thread didn't "get brigaded" just now, it was being brigaded from the very beginning. Redditors always rush to /r/ProtectAndServe when stuff like this happens.

there's a couple people but there's still plenty of cops defending it lol, they're just all at the bottom of the thread

Then link that stuff you retard.

Bloody hell, this is why you keep archive links as backup.

I see nothing but people shitting on the cop. Wtf are you talking about?

Youtube body cam Why does every news story with an embedded video suck total ass? Why did this guy have such a difficult time following the really specific verbal commands?

People in here need to chill and let cops explain and tell us their POV. It's annoying seeing so many non LEOs as top comments

Here we go. The commands were a bit conflicting. The verbiage was not the greatest. However, there was one command that was made very clear; if your hands go down or reach for small of your back, we are going to shoot you. Then Shaver was ordered to crawl, in which he immediately dropped his hands(a moment that the officers "could" have shot, according to their warning.) The woman found the solution to this by moving forward on just her knees, with her hands still raised. Shaver did not see that happen due to following the instructions to look away, so he literally crawled. (A moment the officers could have told him to stop and change positions.) His fatal action was choosing to adjust his clothing by reaching for the small of his back. The one movement that he was warned would get himself shot.

Why did this guy have such a difficult time following the really specific verbal commands?

Hm I dunno maybe the fact he was pissing his pants frightened with a gun pointed at him, not that that would have the same effect on you mr.tough guy

His bitch nailed it though. What a pussy

Cops on reddit are like Muslims on reddit. They spend half their time crying about how people hate them and the other half giving people a reason to hate them.

Who would have thought I'd see such a perfect analogy from the denizens of /r/drama

KILL ALL AMERICAN COPS

this but unironically

This is good for bitcoin.

police training 101 - command presence, command presence, blah blah blah

hey u/lightning_strike1, you know how to get people to obey your commands? you point a gun at them. they get the hint. this cop, and I bet you also, is nothing but a highschool loser, living out his power fantasies.

You're obviously not a cop or been through an academy. So instead of name calling, why don't you go educate yourself first. There's plenty of videos on YouTube about academy training, might want to look at a couple of them before you start talking shit.

And no pointing my weapon at someone does not mean they will listen to me. If that were true, there would be vey little officer involved shooting. Criminals know how law enforcement operate. They know what we can and can't do.

That's sick and disgusting to assume I have a power fantasy to kill people. I never want to shoot someone, much less kill.

I am actually educated in this stuff. It's called de-escalation techniques. As in "don't yell at and repeatedly threaten to shoot a cooperative suspect".

It's not hard, and you'd realize that if you weren't too busy power tripping and waiting to get your gun out.

de-escalation works in one of two ways: 1 - suspect complies with my commands. i get the suspect into custody as soon as possible with no force used. 2 - i get the suspect in my control as soon as possible so things don't escalate. ex: suspect isn't listening but also not physically combative. i'll handcuff the suspect and sit him/her down.

and yes, i get the biggest boner whenever i draw out my service weapon. that's why every call i go to, my weapon is out, people just don't know it. ;)

Then why didn't the cops go get him while he was lying prone and complying? That dude tried to follow every fucking word. He had a reflex to pull up his pants and was executed for it. Your continued defense of this execution makes everyone hate all cops. You are slowly eroding support until you'll be faced with the fact that no one likes or applauds you. You'll realize that you don't provide a valuable service and you don't help society.

What do cops actually do besides giving speeding tickets, arresting harmless drug users, and taking down reports for stolen property that will inevitably get ignored? How is your paycheck actually justifiable? You put your life on the line to do... What? Give tickets?

why didnt the cops go get him while he was lying prone and complying?

because we never leave a position of advantage to go into an unknown. there is another hallway that the officers have not cleared yet. they do not know what's behind that wall. it is much safer to get the person to come to us than for us to go to them.

pull up his pants and was executed for it.

how did you know he was pulling up his pants? did you know he was not the suspect? did you know he was unarmed? could you have made that determination with full certainty if you were in that officer's position at that time? no you can't, you couldn't. you only know now because you get to watch the video over and over in the comfort and safety of your own home.

your continued defense of this execution....

i've never once said what he did was right or wrong. all i've done was explain to you tactics officers use and why. you assume that by explaining how officers operate that i am defending his shooting. a jury of his peers deemed him not guilty, not me.

no one likes or applauds you... don't provide a valuable service.

i don't do this job for the likes. i couldnt care less if i'm liked or not. but fortunately the people in the city i work at generally support cops.

you're right, i don't provide a valuable service. the girl who got her ass beat by her ex-boyfriend? yeah, she don't care that i took his ass to jail and helped her get a restraining order. that drunk driver i arrested? im a dick since he was only a mile away from home, i should've just follow him make sure he got home safely. that terrorist shooting? why did cops get involved? they only killed 10 people and injured 50 more. they would've stopped.

how is your paycheck actually justifiable?

because the next time something happens to you or someone you know, you're going to call the cops and we'll respond.

because we never leave a position of advantage to go into an unknown.

There were plenty of officers there to cover both suspects and the hallway.

how did you know he was pulling up his pants?

Because I'm not a fucking moron. He had on shorts that would not have supported any sized pistol with his waist band. Also, why didn't they just ask him to lift his shirt and turn around?

a jury of his peers deemed him not guilty, not me.

A jury that were not allowed to see most of the video to provide context, nor know that the officer had "You're fucked" inscribed on his gun.

i don't do this job for the likes. i couldnt care less if i'm liked or not

This is obviously bullshit. The only reason people do any job is for pay and satisfaction. Part of satisfaction is being recognized and respected. As soon as your profession lost that respect and you were treated as scum by even the random people you meet off duty at a party, I guarantee you that most of police officers would immediately quit. Because the pay isn't worth it.

you're right, i don't provide a valuable service. the girl who got her ass beat by her ex-boyfriend?

How about the guy who was being pummeled by his girlfriend, but she scratched her arm on the banister, so now she's bleeding and he goes to jail and will be convicted of Domestic Violence?

that terrorist shooting? why did cops get involved?

Why did they wait so long for 50 of them to gather? The last terrorist shooting that happened in my city was ended by one civilian and his gun. The cops didn't show for 45 minutes.

because the next time something happens to you or someone you know, you're going to call the cops and we'll respond.

The last time I called the cops was 7 years ago when my cousin was getting shot at in his house by teenagers in a gang initiation. The cops showed up after 2 hours, shrugged their shoulders, and commenced with questioning my cousin about whether or not he had drugs in his house. So no, I don't think I will call the cops. I'll call paramedics. I'll call the fire department. The only reason I will ever call the cops is if my car gets stolen, because that's about all your good for is randomly stumbling across a stolen license plate while you drive around looking for drugs. For everything else, I have my own firearms.

Wait, you called the police while the shooting was happening, and they took 2 hours to show up? Do you live in a rural area or something?

No. I live in a fairly large city. They didn't like the area it was in because it hadn't been quite gentrified yet. Hence the gang shooting.

because we never leave a position of advantage to go into an unknown. there is another hallway that the officers have not cleared yet. they do not know what's behind that wall.

They walked right up to it once they shot him though.

user reports:
1: I missed the lesson about shooting a crawling, unarmed man

Mayocide is justified!

The cop in that video is unhinged.

I did 3 years of Civil Air Patrol, 3 years of JROTC, 4 years of ROTC, and 12 years in the Air Force. Obviously, I've done and been around a fair amount of close order drill bullshit, but I don't think I could have successfully made it through his game of Simon Says without getting my ass lit up.

That thread does look like even the cops think their buddy was a retard, though.

I'm going to seriouspost for a second because I hadn't seen the video until now. Cops aren't your friend. They are there only to find out if you have broken the law. They are not there to recover your stolen property, unless its something easily tracked like a car. Do not talk to them, do not interact with them. If they have a gun pointed at you, lie prone and tell them to come get you.

I used to work with a guy who had been a NY City cop. He says he taught all his children to never call the cops if they need help. That's exactly what he said: cops are not your friends.

There's just too many ways for the interactions to go wrong. I had a friend who was shot at in his house by teenagers in a gang initiation and the cops just shrugged their shoulders afterwards and said they'd never catch them. Then ended up questioning the people shot at to see if they had drugs in the house or on their person.

Sanctuary cities for cops IMO

This is good for bit coin.
