/u/nullifiedcat That's a lot of text to say "I'm mad that Valve bans cheaters"
Have you ever considered NOT cheating and making bots to help people cheat? Would be easier than posting on a subreddit that still unironically talks about gamergate
You haven't even read the post. This is not about Valve banning cheaters, it's about Valve using a fix worth of low-wage indian junior developer, and then bullshitting people to make themselves look more "professional" than they actually are.
And have you read the post? Only a few bot accounts got banned, and the accounts people tested the detection-by-username, which were throwaways too. This post was made to call out Valve for bullshitting people and whitewashing the situation in their favor instead of just admitting they really did that stupid shit.
I think the problem is that even if Valve was in the wrong, it was still just them overreaching a bit when trying to ban cheaters. I think most people can forgive them for that. Did anyone that had nothing to do with your cheatbot get unintentionally banned? And if so did they get their account reinstated? If so then who cares?
This reminds me of a post on here a few months ago where a shoplifter was mad that they were being followed around the store by employees and claimed they were being profiled even though they were totally shoplifting.
They put in some simple regex matching to weed out the really obvious cases and somehow you think you've just deciphered their entire anti-cheat system. Get a grip. Also, nobody really gives a shit about your indirect bragging, especially not enough to read through five pages of self-aggrandizing word vomit.
Yeah, man, I'm sure there are a bunch of people who legitimately use "catbot" in their username in comparison to those who spin up new environments for their disposable cheating accounts and are too lazy to attach a number to the name of their cheat engine as their username.
How did some Valve customer service rep "like", anyways? He said it was intentional.
Yeah nobody gives a fuck if valve lies about this catbox shit, I can tell you right now I'm happy to see that whatever they are or aren't doing has pissed you off to the point that you are sperging out in r/drama over it. Wrap this around your head, you are a piece of shit cheat developer and nobody likes you except other cheaters. Valve gives me tons of fun vidya to play and all you give people is a way to ruin those game. If valve employees, especially ones that work on VAC, went into your house and beat you to death with a giant silicone dildo I would be nothing less than thrilled to hear how you were crying about how unfair it is right up till the point you started choking on your own teeth.
Just having "catbot" in the username was enough to trigger a VAC ban.
You realize we are also gamers and smart enough to check for ourselves? Must be getting harder to troll these days.
You realize it would be even funnier if that was what they actually did.... If what you are saying is true, if they just banned people for having a username, and that was enough to disrupt you guys. It's hilarious. You're fighting against reality and haven't stopped long enough to realize how stupid the truth you are fighting for makes you look.
You realize we are also gamers and smart enough to check for ourselves? Must be getting harder to troll these days.
Quote from my own post:
I've changed my username to "catbot" but I didn't get banned! Liar!
Well, obviously. I've said already that after everything went too public, no accounts ran as "catbot" got banned. And most of these people saying that just changed their Steam display name instead of Linux username, and don't even use Linux, so they wouldn't get banned anyway because of not understanding what caused it.
Lots of people are ragging on you for being a cheater but there's something more important to point out here. It's "a username" not "an username." If you say the word username out loud you may notice that it actually starts with the consonant Y sound instead of a vowel sound.
The post is archived.
And obviously I know what you will do any sort of mental gymnastics to keep yourself bluepilled. Because for basically everyone here the worst thing that can happen is agreeing with the cheater.
Or are you just mad that you were (rightfully) banned?
And you didn't read the post. I wasn't banned, some bot accounts were, and they were immediately replaced by new ones.
But there is a non-zero chance a legit player got affected, and Valve is completely denying that they did that sort of detection, which is clearly false.
Valve Anti Cheat "VAC" is a mindblowingly complicated way to stop cheaters. It is very effective, and it is impossible to cheat on VAC enabled servers. If VAC detects a cheater, it'll VAC ban them instantly, and there is no other way to play CS, because matchmaking is the only way to play competitive CS:GO. VAC is one of the best anti-cheats made to date, it catches 100% of cheaters, keeping CS:GO Matchmaking very clean.
We're a group of people who will sit for hours, days, even weeks on end performing some of the hardest, most mentally demanding tasks. Over, and over, and over all for nothing more than a little digital token saying we did.
We'll punish our selfs doing things others would consider torture, because we think it's fun.
We'll spend most if not all of our free time manipulating the game design and taking advantage of loopholes all to draw out a single extra point of damage per second.
Many of us have made careers out of doing just these things: slogging through the grind, all day, the same code over and over, hundreds of times to the point where we know evety little detail such that some have attained such cheater nirvana that they can literally make these cheats blindfolded.
Do these people have any idea how many controllers have been smashed, systems over heated, disks and carts destroyed 8n frustration? All to latter be referred to as bragging rights?
These people honestly think this is a battle they can win? They take our media? We're already building a new one without them. They take our devs? Cheaters aren't shy about throwing their money else where, or even making the cheats our selves. They think calling us racist, mysoginistic, rape apologists is going to change us? We've been called worse things by prepubescent 10 year olds with a shitty head set. They picked a fight against a group that's already grown desensitized to their strategies and methods. Who enjoy the battle of attrition they've threatened us with. Who take it as a challange when they tell us we no longer matter. Our obsession with proving we can after being told we can't is so deeply ingrained from years of dealing with big brothers/sisters and friends laughing at how pathetic we used to be that proving you people wrong has become a very real need; a honed reflex.
Cheaters are competative, hard core, by nature. We love a challange. The worst thing you did in all of this was to challange us. You're not special, you're not original, you're not the first; this is just another boss fight.

Thats all well and good but I have a feeling you wouldn't care so much about "Valve's lack of professionalism" if it wasn't you that got banned

If only a few bot accounts got banned why are you complaining? Did any of your accounts get banned? :)

"regex matching" of a string made of 2 common words, in system username. Just having "catbot" in the username was enough to trigger a VAC ban.
And again, main point of this post was to show that Valve lied to everyone in their "response" post, trying to make themselves look good.

if you're the kind of retard that puts "catbot" or "aimbot" in your name then you deserve it tbh.
1 IsADragon 2018-01-03
Lol you're so mad for someone who's bots were back on in minutes. 😂
1 nullifiedcat 2018-01-03
Because Valve gets away with lying to thousands of people at once.

Obviously it's better to believe Valve employee saying Valve is innocent than facts.
1 Clopernicus 2018-01-03
The thing is that it doesn't matter if I believe Valve or not. None of this is even slightly important and you're a jackass.
1 newprofile15 2018-01-03
Let's say they are lying about everything and it's a huge conspiracy. It still wouldn't be worth caring about.
1 Thestateyest 2018-01-03
Valve is a small indie company and can’t afford to look at every vac ban on a case by case basis

1 ThePopesFace 2018-01-03
Yeah, except that a valve dev already outed everyone complaining for cheating:

Maybe you just shouldn't cheat.
1 nullifiedcat 2018-01-03
And you didn't read that post. This valve employee is lying.
1 ThePopesFace 2018-01-03
