Yeah imo /r/moviescircljerk is maybe the worst metasub recently. Used to be a lot of fun if you were a contrarian asshole, but now the sub is just its own cringy circlejerk. Lots of tears shed over the over the backlash against TLJ.
Metasubs are always in a constant state of decline, because even if there are some genuinely bright people involved, it will draw people who are just there because they agree with the new jerk that forms, and then its "lol drumpf" from there on out. Like, someone who didn't know anything about philosophy could easily figure out what to say on badphil for validation.
Same with moviescirclejerk, I could just post DAE Moon (1990) DADDY DENIS, and that would tickle their pickle.
I'm really not sure why online communists and associated communities get SO fucking mad about Jordan Peterson.
Like, they'll mock Scott Alexander, Sam Harris and other people mildly involved in culture wars, but they get reaaaaally fucking mad about Peterson. It's amusing.
Oh, the hate is because the trans lost their fucking minds over the pronoun thing. Despite him being extremely clear in saying "I won't use those pronouns because I won't tolerate the government mandating what I must say", they spun it as "Peterson hates teh bussy", and as you know for regressives facts, much like genders, are whatever they want them to be that day.
Part of it is an understandable reaction to fanboyism. Any time I watch a JP video, there is some retard in the comments talking about how this particular video will be looked at 50 years from now with something approaching religious exaltation. Yeah JP has creepily loyal fanboys, but what the fuck does that have to do with JP's ideas? Wouldn't a sub full of self-proclaimed neckb--uh philosophers care about ideas instead of fandoms?
