People of all walks of life are being locked away and force to do labor all for the profit of the prison owners. America has 5% of the world's population but 25% of the world's prison population. 52.9% of state prisoners are in for violent crimes. 19% of prisoners are in for property crimes (burglary being the most common). 11.6% of prisoners are in for public order offenses (mostly weapons charges and DUIs). 15.7% of prisoners are in for drugs and only 3.5% of prisoners are in for simple possession.
If we were to free every nonviolent prisoner (including those convicted of DUIs, weapons charges, GTA, trafficking, etc.) we would still be ~20 in the world in incarceration rate.

It is racial, yeah, but it's at an acceptable level for the subreddit. Whenever you're making a racial joke, you're striking a balance between the humor and the racism of the content. Both of those factors depend a lot on context. In an ostensibly black subreddit, that balance is going to be weighted fairly heavily against white people for a number of different reasons, most of which I covered in the thread.
If you need a tldr of my opinion, basically, black people face significant disadvantages in the US today, not the least of which is overt racism directed at them, so if the worst instance of racism is a mean title on reddit, then I can accept that if it makes the real racism black people face easier to cope with.

People of all walks of life are being locked away and force to do labor all for the profit of the prison owners. America has 5% of the world's population but 25% of the world's prison population. Remember slavery isn't dead it just went from rags to jumpsuits.

52.9% of state prisoners are in for violent crimes. 19% of prisoners are in for property crimes (burglary being the most common). 11.6% of prisoners are in for public order offenses (mostly weapons charges and DUIs). 15.7% of prisoners are in for drugs and only 3.5% of prisoners are in for simple possession.
If we were to free every nonviolent prisoner (including those convicted of DUIs, weapons charges, GTA, trafficking, etc.) we would still be ~20 in the world in incarceration rate.
What we need are rehabilitation classes, and I suggest all prisoners get access to /r/drama for 2 hours a day.

It is racial, yeah, but it's at an acceptable level for the subreddit. Whenever you're making a racial joke, you're striking a balance between the humor and the racism of the content. Both of those factors depend a lot on context. In an ostensibly black subreddit, that balance is going to be weighted fairly heavily against white people for a number of different reasons, most of which I covered in the thread.
If you need a tldr of my opinion, basically, black people face significant disadvantages in the US today, not the least of which is overt racism directed at them, so if the worst instance of racism is a mean title on reddit, then I can accept that if it makes the real racism black people face easier to cope with.
