I can't believe someone could think this is drama. This is a total non issue, non drama scenario. I admit the message got muddled somewhere in my rant, but imo its pretty cut and dry.
I can do whatever I want with my life. But, when media makes itself overtly taboo, in any form, obviously I'm not going to talk about it with certain people. Whether its a straight porno or something like Ivy in Soul Calibur, there is a time and a place.
When you work a real job, with consistent hours, you end up needing to blur the line between friend and coworker. You will be working, eating, even drinking and socializing with these people for years.
I really think its non-controversial to say you don't flaunt Ivy to your white collar coworkers. That much is obvious to anyone. This is what I mean when I say there is no drama
My point is that, because Ivy is in the game, I'm way less likely to bring up Soul Calibur to even my gaming coworkers. And, well, if I can't talk about it, I can't share it. It's fine to have private hobbies, but i all you have in life are things you need to keep secret, you can't talk to anyone about anything at work.
I have 24 hours in a day. All I was suggesting is that, because Ivy is taboo, Soul Calibur would be on my list of life-cuts to make room for something socially acceptable. Dancing lessons. A new TV show or book. Something that is shareable in a work environment.
The real secret problem is that /r/Kappa leans alt right and will jump on anyone who seems to promote a left narrative. These are traditional conservative values but most people who attack Ivy are SJWs so I guess fuck all the dissenters. I personally would prefer a redesigned, literal SFW Ivy because of the industry I work in and the people I interact with.
I personally love Ivy's design, but I don't get to pick and choose how everyone else reacts to it :(
Soul Calibur has a great collection of quirky characters that just make me instantly nostalgic. I remember the first time my friends and I picked Voldo and how hilariously unsettling we thought he was. And, there is a pirate who shoots a gun in a sword fighting game. Really badass.
I guess I just don’t see why you couldn’t talk to coworkers without the conversation inevitably leading to “dem tiddies tho.” If anyone steered talk there, I would think it would be on them rather than the whole group. But OTOH a stuffy office atmosphere isn't very hard to imagine either. I’m just psyched VI is actually getting made.
