My husband and I have been together for 8 years, and married for 5. We have two kids together. They're three year old twins, Katie and Sue.
My husband is a Veterinary Nurse, and I work in business. Because of my position in the company, I make more than my husband does on a yearly basis. That has never been a point of conflict in our relationship. It's our money. We've never fought about how much we make. He's never felt insecure about it. When we argue about money, it's more about one of us forgetting to pay a bill. It's so stupid, but when we get a bill we always think we'll open it later and sometimes completely forget about it.
I got my mum a job at the company I work. She works directly under me and is just one of the hundred people I need to try and manage. She has been driving me insane. She learned how much I make through the grapevine. She's attached herself like a leach to this and won't let it go. She really thinks it's wrong I make more than my husband. She told me my dad would be depressed if she made more than him. I've told her multiple times to but out and get back to work.
She ease dropped on a conversation I was having with my friend before work started. My husband is a big film buff. Every Friday when the kids go to bed we watch a movie together on our couch. Over the weekend our daughter spilled orange juice on his Blu-ray player and it wouldn't work anymore. I was telling my friend I bought a 4K Blu-ray player to surprise him.
My mum got right in my face telling me he should be surprising me with expensive gifts. I guess she never listened to me when I tell her the stuff he does for me. She continued her stupid argument on social media to her friends.
I don't know what to do about my mum. I need some help.
