Amazon's Alexa is randomly laughing at people and the company is trying to fix it.

You're oversimplifying a complex situation to the point of adding nothing to the discussion.

I am a bot. (Info / Contact)

For example if Alexa said that sometimes when it detected two or more people talking loudly, it would vastly improve the entertainment value of many domestic disputes.

I’d be laughing too, if small-souled bugmen had lined up in droves to pay money for the privilege of letting me record everything they say.

lined up

Do you not know what Amazon is?

You're a joke and you're autistic. What now faggot?

no u 😎

u win :(

Fuck multiplayer games.

Team never wants to meet up

This is some bullshit.

I'll just play single player games.

nigger

They're even giving them away, someone I know got one included with a TV they bought. how thoughtful, a live microphone that 3 letter government orgs can access 24/7, how about a sharp stick to the eye to go along with it?

>being this paranoid

I know a guy who was in the military. His group of guys did all kinds of tech stuff. They were told by their superiors that under no circumstances could they buy an Alexa.

If the Army's paranoid about it, I'm gonna follow suit.

No shit the military should be worried about being bugged. Do you have anti missiles installed in your home? They are pretty paranoid about those too.

Nigga you think I'm gonna tell you about my missiles on /r/drama? You cray

Fair enough, but I am still filing a report to Soros just in case.

That's fine, he's one of (((my people))).

You can run something called a packet capture on the Alexa's internet traffic. This shows the all the data sent to and from the device. I haven't looked at the Alexa, but I have looked at the Google home, since I was able to get it running on my raspberry pi. Besides sending data when you say their keywords, they only download software updates and do some small stuff like updating the time. Sure they could just start sending everything you say but people would notice that and they'd get tons of shit.

I mean if you want to be paranoid, the lizard Jews could also be behind Build a bear and using it to groom kids to worship Satan.

I had never thought of that, but now I'm suspicious...

I highly doubt Alexa isn’t sending over an ssl tunnel though...

Yeah it's encrypted (thank God), but you can still tell a lot from when it sends packets and how large the packets are. If they were sending back everything you say, then there would either constant smaller packets or occasional large transfers. I saw neither of those when I tested it.

I'd be worried about it if it wasn't encrypted, because then it would be open to MITM attacks. They're fairly secure, but they are dumb.

Remember, the Pentagon actually banned Furbies too.

Unless you are important somehow, you're background noise. Our military and some bureaucrats have rules against buying Chinese phones because spyware but most other people don't give a fuck because honestly, there's millions of us. There's no way they're collecting data outside a small subset of targeted individuals.

Unless you are important somehow

My grandma says I'm really important to this world. I love my precious me-maw.
