The American ones I've met are nice, though I think I only know Indians and Singaporeans. They were definitely the most friendly foreign students in college.
It's a class thing, the ones that emigrate to the US are upper middle/upper class, whereas Britain has a lot of poor uneducated South Asian immigrants.
