Honestly the only things that white people should cook over open fires are hot dogs and potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil when doing some light camping.

Cast iron bowls or whatever they're called are used to cook in the wild over open flame when there's no mount available. They're easy to stack and pretty modular since everything flows towards the middle meaning you can do a small side sauce or a huge pile of meat in the same pan, or two pans side by side that are the same size (like a wok pan).

The downside is everything gets very very greasy by default, which is acceptable after a hard day in the wild I guess. Also, there's no reason to use them anywhere else, since there's no smoke flavour imparted what so ever, and they usually get way too hot way too fast. They're virtually only used in the wild, and only when there's a way to carry them (like horses, snow mobiles etc), but they are associated with a bunch of traditional fatty fried dishes that used to be soldier field rations and lumberjack food.

A 'sous vide egg' (what she actually means is an egg cooked at a low temp, not an egg in a plastic bag) is an egg that coagulates partially, making it creamy and delicious.
