Back story: A company called Bitmain is releasing an ASIC for Ethereum (buttcoin alt). This ASIC will be able to mine at a fraction of the price of GPU miners at the same speed.
There is a debate as to whether to hard fork Ethereum to break the ASICs. Most people on reddit seem to be in favor of a hard fork, but that's just reddit.
Yes. ASICs would be great if available, but they're pretty much under a monopoly by a company called Bitmain. Bitmain can (and do) charge whatever they want for ASICs, and also mine with them for months before selling them.
They do. Rewards from mining are based on your hashrate compared to the total hashrate of everyone (not exactly, but close enough for layman's terms).
If everyone had access to as many ASICs as they wanted, I think most people would embrace them. There probably isn't an ASIC company that does a hundredth of the business bitmain does
You can atone by making DramaCoin a reality for us. Extra points if you can make it function like a short on the crypto market cap so it only goes up all of the time when the market goes down

Only if there is a large group against the change. Then they split into two coins, and you have the same amount of both that you did when they split.
