No, silly, it's not even about that. It is about what's good for the country. You just don't get that what's good for the country is a responsible and engaged population. What makes the country stronger? Everyone pulling their own weight and accepting the consequences of their decision making or an ever-shrinking pool of responsible people constantly having to bail out people who never learn their lesson because society is enabling their poor decision making.
And again, this only a problem because we as a society have enabled such behavior. Every chick that lays the parent trap and "forgets" their birth control and/or sabotages their partner's condoms knows that even if they don't catch their man the government is going to bail them out. That's how we end up with single mothers with three or four kids all from different fathers. Maybe if making a shitty choice came with some negative consequence people would be less likely to make said shitty choice.
