Story time. I work with this super redneck guy. Like, the first few weeks of knowing each other he drops a hard R on me. I live in the south so that's not too shocking. I make fun of him a bit, and drop it. Well we start working with this black dude. Now, before this point redneck guy has never had a black friend. He doesn't even really talk to the blacks at work further than necessary. Somehow he manages to find common ground with this guy though because they both have crazy ex-girlfriend stories. Now they work out together every other day and go hiking on the weekends. I'm not gonna lie, his character arc brings a little tear to my eye sometimes.
This dude was straight rural. All blacks were niggers to him. It's funny, because the standards are high enough to cut the trash anyways so literally everyone who works there is somewhat responsible. That was actually part of my point to him. He was going on about how much crime blacks commit and I was like, "who do you think in our area is a criminal?" and he couldn't name one. I think it was the friendship with the other dude that really changed him though. I just liked making fun of him for being a pleb.
