This about covers it. I will also add that my cats can absolutely sense when I’ve had a shit day or my anxiety is flaring up. And they all plop down next to me on the couch (if not on my lap!) and purr and just be cute and soothing. Kitty snuggles definitely help me to relax out of a bad mental state!

Is this why they have so many cats?

They never come out of their "bad mental state" so they add one cat every time they can't?

Here is an experiment to test your theory:

Trial 1:

  • Buy a puppy
  • Drive to a gas station
  • Leave the puppy outside in the cold at the gas station

Trial 2:

  • Make a baby
  • Drive to a gas staation
