The government has every right and indeed obligation to usurp parental authority if the parents are endangering the welfare of the child. The Alfie case is beyond my limited medical knowledge to have an opinion on, but the idiotic notion that having seen that resulted in a child gives you supreme authority over that child until <insert magical age of majority here> needs to be banished to the graveyard of history.
